I just got the new swear roms for my DM man. It worked fine before I installed them besides the ball eject from top of the play field would only work when the game would cycle threw and look for balls plus it would make a knocking noise when you first turned it on which you could make stop by opening the coin door and advancing it?
I put the new roms in and now the game won't power up and some of the leds on the power board are not lit plus some of the other leds on the the other boards are not fully bright. I swapped back in the original roms and it still does the same thing. My power cord has a cut in it and you could see one of the wires had been cut and only about 50% of the wire was still connected it was just taped over with electrical tape so I ordered a new one and it will be here soon. Any idea what I should check to try and get it to power back up and any idea what to check with the ball eject or the knocking on start up?
I am new to pin repair so sorry for all the questions. I was able to fix my Joust and Robotron with the help of Yellowdog and Dokert so I hope I can do the same thing with my DM
Thanks

It sounds like you misaligned one or more of the cables when you reinstalled them. I am assuming you removed the board from the machine to swap ROMs. You should verify your wires are connected in the proper place and not off by one pin. Then use a multimeter to check power at the power supply board. I don't know if you are familiar with Clay's guides but here is the best online resource for troubleshooting pinball machines:

I didn't remove the board from the game to swap roms because they were easily accesible. I have checked and rechecked the two cables I removed and they are all aligned. I wish I just left it alone, I just added more problems to fix and now my pin doesn't even power up

Did you misalign any of the ROMs when you initially installed them? Did you install any of them backwards?

I would never swap any chip on a board with it mounted in place, there is too much flex in the boards when mounted and the possibility of damage is fairly high when you consider I have ogre hands and a complete lack of coordination...

If you know how to use a multimeter you should check the power supply board for proper output and return with the results.
