I have a DL w a Dexter and originnal DL main & ROM pcb in a game that I'm selling, which all works as it should.

I also have a Sony LDP-1550 and Hi-Tech card that I wanted to test out before I no longer have a working game to see if it could run the original hw to put in another DL project cab. I was able to get my LD player to work with the Hi-Tech card but then it wouldnt eject the disc. I did some searching and watched a few youtube videos and it seemed the belt could be the cause of the problem. I coudnt find a manual for this model, the dlp website didnt have one either. correction: they do have the manul for the UK version of the player, see below in next post/response from @Mavrk

no manuals found here

This thread had some information but its a wanted thread and couldnt find any other threads for this model unless they were 4 sale posts

Some of the repair videos for other players showed that you had to remove the laser tracking components to get down below the tray to get to the belt. In others, there were tabs you could press to cause the tray to eject but I couldnt find any information for this particular player. Luckily, the belt for this player was on the side of the unit. I was able to manually pull/feed the belt which caused the player to grab the disc and raise it which resulted in the tray opening and ejecting the disc.

Does anyone know which belt is the correct replacement belt for this player? I found what I think might be the one and ordered it. I guess I'll know soon enough if it works but I was hoping someone here might have prior experience. shows P/N 3-534-779-00

In any case, of course I kept screwing with it and now when I turn it on, the player wont play the disc. I actually managed to get it to work one other time but its back to not playing the disc upon startup.

Any ideas what could be keeping it from playing the disc?

thanks!

got lucky and when i turned the game on the player loaded the disc and played

here it is now, starts up but won't play...

Probably the lens to recalibrate

Here the service manual

and here the general Sony's 1000s Interface manual (if there is a problem with the rs 232)

here specifically for the 1500 series

thanks @Mavrk, I did find that one but it was for the UK, wasnt sure if there were differences between the two units. That's where I found the part no for the belt, I was just hoping someone here had experienced these issues and could provide some feedback. Some players apparently have more than one belt, not sure if this has any others hidden from sight other than the one I found, just looking for confirmation. I added some pictures and additional information in the orig post

@Mavrk i got the belt i ordered and it did the trick! look at the difference between the new & old, wow!

also, i cleaned the lens, there were two next to each other. It wasnt too dirty that I could tell but upon firing the game up the laserdisc got picked up and played immediately.
success! tray opens & closes and the game plays flawlessly. for shits and giggles I tried DL2 and Space Ace in the player. While they dont play properly I was able to verify the laserdiscs are still in great condition.

Next, onto what appears to be a new LD-V1000 in it's original box w registration card. Numbers matching even. :)

one observation, the older belt feels of much better quality. definitely thicker than the new one
probably should pick up a couple of spares. Hope this helps someone that runs into the same problem

Anyone else running a Sony LDP / Hi-Tech combo?
