DKJR 500K Club?

yeah i seen that from Riches Place.

I did'nt know that was him at the time. So i asked the question a couple mins ago? Do you go fast and get a Kill Screen or do you Point Press and try too get the Highest score ever?

Or do you go fast and get Kill screens and get used too getting there and then start point pressing?
Did you see that Steve W got a DKJr kill screen tonight?

Given that you have scored 555k, I am assuming that you are very close to the kill screen. I would suggest going ahead and finishing the game. After that, going from 700k to one million isn't that difficult as most points can be made up by mind-numbing spark hopping on the Hideout. Just running through the boards, a game will barely take 1.5hrs, whilst a point-pressing game can push 3hrs. If I recall correctly, my first KS game was 834k which required some hanging around on the Hideout, and my second KS was 1080k which required full pressing of all of the Hideout boards.

You had mentioned missing the super-jump messing up your patterns. This jump is never 100%, so it is in your best interest to develop a back-up pattern. Mine, for instance, is run by making it up to the chain area as soon as is possible after taking "the long way" which allows for a pattern to be run that gets all fruit and bird smashes, but loses around 2k on the timer. Good luck!

P.S. Way to go Steve!

@simpsons99

I see. I thought getting the high jump on the springboard level was a matter of the platform being close enough. (At one time some years ago, I thought maybe it had to do with pushing up no the stick when you pushed jump - which would be sensical....) Seems as it might be some measure of that on the second springboard level, as tonight the 'spaz button-press' didn't work every time. Which blew enough of the clock that getting past the birds in the chain area didn't really matter.

Does anyone here know of Don Hodges' fixing of the code in DK (and, I think, DKJr)? Why not burn your own roms and play it indefinitely?

Heres what you do for the Super Jump . When you start the Spring Level back DKJR all the way too the end of the screen. Then have him do 2 Jumps back too back. on the 2nd Jump hit the Jump Button a Few times. DKJR Should Jump high into the Air. It takes timing too make the Plantform. Just get used too doing the move.

Mark it's nice too know the Super Jump causes you problems allso.

I belive i was only on level 12 when i got that 555k score. I know it stopped showing the level Numbers after 9 ..It Just went Blank where the number should have been. How many levels are there and when does it start showing the lettters?

The "blank" levels last through L=16. L=17 is designated "A". L=22 is the kill screen level (Level "F").

Looks like you are on a million point pace there, simpsons99. Good job!

I guess the Goal is a Million Points and a Kill Screen! TY Mark!!

I'm still completely lost what the world record is . But i don'nt think thats a factor at the moment.

WTF. I can barely get 120,000. I always have problems passing the 2nd Springboard. Must be missing something. Does DKjr have difficulty settings (besides # of men)?

I see my comment about making your own roms an all got ignored. [smiles]

In any case

Was that machine gun-like button rattling at the springboard similar to the technique people use for track and field?

Why did you not take the first opportunity you had to get past the birds (4:53)? And why didn't you hang around and jump birds all day?

Also, I noticed in Wagner's game, on the upper level of the springboard level, he would jump across the gap, right to the chain. I didn't know this was possible.

I thought Mitchell got the new DKJr record the night he got his last DK score? Regardless, there's nothing at TG for DKJr arcade.

He did, officially. What he and most everyone else didn't know, though, was that Mark Kiehl (marky d) had already topped that scored a couple of weeks earlier at home and had it on tape, but had not yet submitted it for verification.

Bill Mitchell was able to have his fun with his press conference at the Big Bang event in Ottumwa announcing his duel world records for Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Junior, and Mark submitted his Donkey Kong Junior video later and now has that record. Classy thing to do, in my opinion.

Incidentally, Steve Wiebe has since reclaimed the Donkey Kong record. Crazy, huh?

Yes, there is.

I think my Jump Button is starting too act up. On the Spring its not doing the super Jump as often. Then on Mario's Hideout Jumping the sparks sometimes it does'nt DKJR Just turns back Looking Retarded.
