Dkjr 200k club!

I got too level 7 when i got the 262 score. Yestarday i was doing better on scoring i got too level 5 and had a score of 205.

Wow, being over 200k on L=5 is very good! That is a much better scoring pace than I was getting when I was putting up scores similar to yours.

thanks Mark yeah thats a good score for that but sadly it was game over :O(

Tonight was'nt a good night only had a 182 but that would have been a good game awhile ago though.

I need too see you playing the 4th level key level. those darn birds invade the screen like wild fire!

Those boards are extremely patternable (though the snapjaws will be a nice variable sometimes). I actually find the 4+ level keys easier than the 3rd level keys honestly. Just stay below the lowest one left to right then make your move and then after there will be a huge gap you can climb back down from and so on...

Agree with Steve. In my opinion the L=3 key/chain is the hardest board in the game. It's probably just me, but sometimes I think the snapjaws behave more aggressively on this board.

Last night I made a video of Level 1 thru 4, on an actual machine this time, and tried to put it upon youtube but failed miserably. I've never uploaded a video before, but I'm assuming that a 27min video shouldn't take 640min to upload. I decided I wasn't going to wait that long only to have it rejected because the video was longer than 10min. :)

You don't get that gap that you do on Lvl 4+ on 3 so to me that rightmost key is a severe PITA on Lvl 3 especially if the snapjaws are congregated over on the right because you don't get the large gap to place the key that you do on Lvl 4+.

If you can figure it out please post back here. There's hardly any videos on youtube (that I could find) of real arcade gameplay.

I just got my DK Jr. board up and running yesterday. It's the first time since the 80's I've played off the acade board (I've played it mostly on MAME over the years). The sounds on the arcade version are so freaking cool! The board pushes my speaker a lot more than DK so the rumbles are a little disorted and the walking sounds are just crazy. When you go down vines fast it sounds like some sort of alien spaceship. I love the nuances and quirkyness of it.

I'm at about 55K right now. That 2nd key level is hard and the second spingboard level is tough too. I'm hoping to get to the 3rd key level tonight.

the second spingboard level is tough too.

That's really the biggest stumbling point for everyone IMO, it was for me too. That and the repeating 4th key boards though they are easier than 2+ lvl springboards IMO. Once you figure out the 2nd springboard and realize the flight pattern of the 4+ lvl key boards, your score will skyrocket as the other 2 screens are trivial by comparison.

One of my biggest thrills in gaming was struggling for quite some time with the 2nd springboard level on a consistent basis. I really really wanted to figure it out on my own though so I just kept at it, refusing help, until one day I saw something in the flight pattern on the 2nd springboard that I hadn't really noticed before and figured out how to pass it and my high score went from 150k to 600k in one game. That was such a joyous moment.

It's funny... I think the reason I'm pretty good at levels 1 thru 4 is "back in the day" I used to do the cheat where you sacrifice your second player(in a 2 player game) to reset player one back to the first level without loosing a guy.

I must have played those levels thousands of times back in the day just to keep playing on a $0.50 investment. :D

Heck yeah! All that time you were just building skill and when you figured out how to get past that one point you went through the roof. That's cool.

Mark have you thought about putting it on the Just tv like your other videos where? I agree with the others there is'nt much for dkjr on utube. I like the Just TV Better you can do live feeds there allso.

Thought about doing a live feed sometime?

I had too take the night off from playing tonight. I will be able too play some tommorrow night after work!

I agree i was stuck on the 2nd Spring level for the longest time intell i asked how to do the super jump.

most of my time lost on that level is not knowing when too go on the birds from the 3rd fruit.

Yeah i think the 3rd Key level is harder then the 4th. I was hoping too see a faster patteren then what i'm doing. Alot of waiting for the gap in birds too bring the keys up and racing the clock at the end of the level. Hardly getting any extra points.

wtg guys on yours scores your getting somewhere!

Yeah, I tried playing the video and broadcasting it on JTV, but I don't have access to my better computer right now, and the laptop I am using gets very confused trying to do this and the browser keeps getting shut down. I guess with the "high class" dialup I have it would literally take 4+ hours to upload to youtube, and even then I'm afraid it would get "rejected" due to the 27min legnth. I can give it a try though and see what happens. I'm not sure if youtube will automatically divide videos into parts or not, but I doubt it. I apologize as I am new to this, but I am trying. :)

Yeah, Steve, I had the same feeling once I figured out the second springboard too. I didn't quite have the radical jump in score that you did, but it wasn't soon after that discovery that getting "deep" into the game started to happen with consistency.

Jeff F, that's pretty impressive that you were able to execute that jump to do the "extra lives" trick with regularity...the timing for that is tough. I'm still dumbfounded that someone figured that glitch out back in the day...how does that happen??

Not on purpose, that's for sure. ;) Someone probably gave up on their 2nd player game and the first player was just trying to kill him off. Almost makes sense that you'd just walk to the right and jump to your death at that spot.

It is said that it will but I never had luck with it doing it for me. When I was trying to unload some Zoo Keeper scores and Elevator Action scores off my camera and instead of deleting them figured I'd throw them up somewhere, I had lots of issues trying to separate the clips out so I downloaded a trial version of some editing software and after hours and hours was able to finally post them to youtube.

Well, like Steve, I downloaded a free program that will divide your video clips but for some reason it lost the audio. The longer clips will take some time to upload, but tonight I did manage to upload the L=4 Keys board that I played. It is interesting because it started out looking like a really unfortunate scenario, but scoring-wise ended up pretty well. I did use the "audioswap" feature to add some random music to the video, but that hasn't been approved or whatever yet. I will probably be able to put up the entire video one part at a time, when I get the time. If I figure out how to clip video, and not lose sound, I will delete what I have and post the new stuff hopefully. Or maybe not. ;)
