Hi, I was given a DK TKG3-07 4-board set awhile back with the caveat that it probably didn't work. I hooked it up and it had lots of garbage, although it was partially playable. I did reburn one of the character EPROM's which had a broken leg. Anyway, I got it out today and started swapping parts with my working 4-board set (which I'm using for D2K). After all the swapping, here's what I've found (pics follow the description):
CPU and Sound board both work fine, although the bottom left pin in the socket of the Z80 is broken, it seems to contact the pin fine, or else it's not used.
VID board makes the beams on the barrel board all messed up. They don't slant, even though when Mario walks, when he starts going up hill, he actually goes up hill.
CLK board causes the sprites not to display, and all the fixed characters to be halved/doubled up.
Here's images of what each one does. All were done with the CPU and Sound board from the bad set (which, as stated, both work), they also had the ROM's from my good set in them.

Bad CLK board with my good VIDEO board, no moving sprites:

Title screen, you can see how all the text is halved/doubled up, and Kong is missing from the title screen.

Bad Video board with my good CLK board. You can climb ladders until you jump, then it messes up your location on the screen:

The game is still scoring, even though the scores all show 0's, as I was able to smash a bunch of the barrels grouped at the top and get enough to make the scoreboard:

Both bad CLK and VIDEO boards together:

(Started a 2nd post since you're limited to 5 pics.)
OK, so to continue, I swapped out the EPROM's from the CLK and Video board between my working set and the partially working one. No changes, and the EPROM's from the partially working board look perfect on my working CLK and Video boards. Here's a screen shot of the game fully working with the CPU and Sound from the bad board, and CLK and Video from my good board (with EPROM's from the bad board):

Any ideas what to look for? I don't see any obvious signs of any broken traces or anything, board itself is pretty clean. Hoping it's an issue someone here has seen before and might be a simple fix :)

Thanks!

1.Check the ribbon cables between the L and V boards using cables from your working boardset.
2. Check the sockets the Eproms are in for pin damage or corrosion.

OK, had a little more time to mess with it today while doing some laundry :) No change, but I did use the same ribbon cables on both video boards and CLK board, with no change. Looks good on my good CLK and video boards, and bad (same as above pics) on the bad video and CLK boards. I also checked the sockets when I swapped the ROM's back to the original boards, and none appeared to have any corrosion. After getting everything back together, the one with the bad boards looks the same, and my good set still is running good. I'm done messing with them for now, unless someone has any other ideas. The good board is back running in my cocktail.

You may have bad ram. Suspect ram may be HM10422 normally the pair with heat sinks side by side and 2114 ram. Spray those componets with electronic cooler spay and see if your problem clears.
