On 3rd level elevators and above...

I'm still only completing the elevators about 1/2 of the time...

I get hit when running from the top of ladder left to the staging area...

can anyone explain in simple terms when to run?

and the other times, I wait for what seems the right spring landing to the right of DK's foot, and then run for it.. but get hit...

is it bad when the spring right after this one also hits the same spot to the right of DK's foot?

what i do is climb the ladder, and wait for the spring to land on the center of the yellow "piece/platform/whatever" above the left elevator. as soon as it jumps over mario i run to the center of the right "above the elevator" piece, and wait for another spring to go in the same spot. i then run pretty much the second it gets to mario, and i can usually make it.

oddly enough, on the 3rd elevator i die on the jump from the right elevator to the top platform more than i die by getting hit with a spring.

nope... answer wasn't in the vid... about 50% of it was...

but running from the right to the left...

I can try cleverj tech tho....

On Level 3 elevators, I go past the upper ladder moving left, then follow the spring to the right, and up the ladder

On the higher level elevators, you have to go from the right of the upper ladder, as the distance is different between springs :)

Easiest way to explain - Notice where B is upper left. That dotted line shows you where the spring hits. That's the one you need to run on. #4 shows where you stand. As soon as the B spring hits on the left of jumpman you immediatly run right. The spring will barely miss you allowing you to start your ascention on the latter. If you're too slow a spring goes up your arse.

yeah, that's what i was trying to say. the spring on the dotted line is the one you run on.

Don't jump to the top platform but instead jump to the one below it.
It is a much easier jump and I never die that way.
Your timing has to be right on to make the top platform.

You have to learn to watch the next spring as you're running. If it bounces to the left of the prior spring then you have time to make it up. If it bounces at the same spot or to the right, you don't. So you need to learn to run and turn back as necessary.

This is the most important thing to learn. After you get that down your life expectancy increases significantly. It also enables you to break 200K and beyond.

Ok.. the diagram is better than the one I have... BUT to clarify...

I understand when to run from #4 to the up ladder to save the girl.. (sometimes I swear a spring still gets me going up the ladder.. like you have to figure out what the next spring is too)

But what spring do you run left TO position 4 on? The same B spring ?

And.. is it just my eyes.. or are there some springs that land inbetween A and B ? like just a hair to the left of B ? And those are NOT ok to run on?

I'm at 233,100K for my High score now..

Didn't you see my post?

I never liked the "A" and "B" descriptions because there are many spots where they land.

My high score is 573,300.

I guess a person could say, "Well ya see you gotta wait for one of them thar springy dingy thingies to land smack dab in the middle of that yeller lookin thing."

Leinhit - basically you have to wait for the B spring to hit the spot shown in the picture. Now here's the hard part the other guys are trying to convey to you. As this "B" spring lands to the left of jumpman As you make a break for the right you look to the left and if the very next spring is not a B spring you have to go back to the left. And FWIW I still don't have that timing perfect.

Ok.. took me twice to read it and sink in...

I just lost my last guy running to the left.. I 'think" i waited for the "B" spring and got hit...

next time I will either go w/ the "A" , or just my gut feeling as I do now.. :)

My point is there really is an A spring, B spring, C, D, E, F, G, ....

So I prefer to think in terms of a late bouncing spring, followed by a spring that bounces to the left of it. There really is no "exact" spot that you have to wait for.

My understanding is that when you go after the b spring lands next to jumpman that as you are running to the ladder you need to watch for a second b spring in a row because that can kill you. That is the toughest part for me.

that's actually the one i meant by top, rather than going to the very bottom and going up the ladders. the problem is, for some reason i lost my rhythm of the jump from the elevator to the platform and half the time i hit the top platform and die.

You just need to wait a bit longer before you jump.
You have to be a little patient and not hurry.

Yeah i'm very lucky if i get past the 3rd!! The problem with me is all those things are moving sooo fast and they start too all look the same.
