Hey guys, Hoping to get some help on this issue. Im a noobie with this stuff but trying/willing to get my hands dirty :)

So all was working fine but havent fired up the DK in a few months, turned it on and now it has a constant loud hum. Hum is still there with volume all the way down. Hum gets louder when volume turned up (Obviously)..

Anyway trying to do research, seems like I need to do work or replace the sound amp board? Im a little scared of soldering since ive never tried, yeah I know how many times you guys hear that, but would be fine buying just a new board if it solves the issue..

Any words of wisdom?

Is this what I need from Mikesarcade? - http://www.mikesarcade.com/store/datasheets/NinInvAmp.pdf Doesnt seem like that would do it but I hope so....?

The hum never goes away "fully" on a nintendo game.

Rebuilding the amp (small board on monitor) is less than 10 caps. Really simple if you have the right tools.

Caps are only a few bucks too...

Thx for the reply.

I know that nintendo always has a little buzz but this buzz got out of control!

So unfortunately, I dont have the right tools, experience, knowledge or anyone I can ask or learn from in person.. What would you do if you were me?

Would this mikesarcade sound amp board work if I bought it and swapped it out, or is that something different? - http://www.mikesarcade.com/store/datasheets/NinInvAmp.pdf

I'm sure somebody local to you could come by and rebuild that sound board for you. I would if I was closer. Only take 30 min or so to do it.

Surely one of you KLOV wizards can answer this noobie question-

Can this sound amp from mikesarcade be a replacement for my busted humming amp board in my DK? Or am I totally off here..? - http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl

I know I can have my board re-capped and it would solve the problem, but I dont know anyone to or how to do that and am just hoping to buy a new amp board replacement..?

Any help would be super appreciated!

Thanks!

Video Inverter and Sound Amp

Without seeing the pinouts, it's hard to say, but this looks like a board that inverts the video and provides a sound amp so you can use a different monitor.

I'm not saying that it couldn't be re-purposed, but if all you need is your monitor re-capped, any good TV or radio shop could do that if you aren't handy.

So, rather than install a board that kind of does what you want, why don't you look around your area for a good TV or radio man, and ask him if he can re-cap your monitor sound board.

The other challenge is that you already said you aren't that handy. It's kind of a stretch to go from no knowledge to wiring up a board to an existing monitor in a configuration that isn't standard. You'd be asking for trouble, which could be as simple as a blown component or smoke coming out of something, to as complicated as making a mess of your monitor.

the short answer is NO it is not a plug and play.

you would need to hack connecters off and rewire it.

if you want your sound amp reworked i have all the parts and caps in stock.

PM me if you want a rebuild.

Peace
Buffett

For a no worries repair and quality parts with a fast turnaround, send it to Buffet. The parts, tools, and knowledge is one of the best. I seen him put a television tube into a game and had it completed in about an hour. He had to modify the yoke also.

If you go with the kit, you must know the proper positions of the caps and polarity. If you put a cap in backwards, warranty is void.

Warranty is 30 days. Incorrect installation may void warranty. Not responsible if old unreplaced flyback harms components.
All flyback prices are subject to change due to market and parts availability.

So if you don't know how to do this, just send out and be done!

I see this has been awhile but

My Wideboy mario bros had a low hum 2 weeks later it is VERY loud and if i turn up the sound on the machine it is even louder and distorts the sound of game. Help :)
