So I have kinda been ignoring this issue, but figured I'd ask around to see if anyone else has encountered something similar.

I have a DK that I have set up with a Vision Pro monitor, Mike's Arcade Sound Board/Inverter (http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?sku=NININVAMP) and a switching power supply. When I turn the machine on the start up "boing" sound continues to almost echo in the background and never really goes away. The voltages are all right does this have something to do with the volume on the board and the Mike's Arcade board?

Let me know if you have any insight.

Thanks!

mine will do the same when i power up, but it only last for about 3-4 seconds.

Mine echos in the background indefinitely, very faint. Can't hear if there is a game playing.

From Mike's arcade......

Problem: Whirring sound all the time.

Sounds like the jump sound never completely cuts off.

Solution: replace transistor Q4 on the CPU board, a 2SC 1815

Is there documentation anywhere regarding this?

As I understand it, there's two types of sounds in the DK stuff, analog and digital. The digital sounds are the music, etc. and the analog sounds are the jump sound, the fist pound, etc. There's 5 analog sounds. The startup sound is all 5 of the analog sounds playing at the same time. If you look in the schematic, each of the 5 sounds has a seperate little circuit that makes it work. You'll have to figure out which sound is stuck... if there's one of those transistors for each sound, that'll make it easy, you can just check their values against other transistors with a multimeter set to diode check.

I fixed a Jr. the other day that had a buzz, but no sounds at all, it was the last two caps in the output section.
