I haven't pulled my boards to look closely, but does DK have a reset button? Or if not there's probably a reset signal that I can tie into, right? I'm hoping to expose a button for resetting. I have the D2K multigame kit but I don't do free play, so the only way I can switch between games right now is power off and back on.

I've not seen a reset on the DK boardsets. I thought you can switch from DK to D2K by pressing both the 1 and 2 player start buttons at once. - Barry

There's an easily accessible reset on the PCB. Look for a binding post on the PCB labeled "RESET" (with a line on top) or "TP2". All you need to do is wire that post to a switch that shorts it to ground when you press it.

I can't remember where I saw it, but there was a nintendo service bulliten about installing a slam switch on the coin door of the dk/dkjr machines. That must have attached to the point ajcrm125 is reffering to. I wish I could find that bulliten again. - Barry

There is no reset button, and P1 & P2 together at the same time only works in free play or during boot up.

P1 + P2 during boot up appears to do nothing.

I'm actually quite irritated by the fact that I can't switch games without cycling the power, going into the menu, and changing the setting. It actually caused me to download misfitmame because at least on my mame cab it's convenient. Hopefully it won't be too long before I have another cab for a dedicated D2K.

I can reprogram my CoinOp part to send a single reset pulse to your board when you hold the P1 down for a fixed amount of time.

It would have been cool if I could get this set up to easily switch games while resetting it, but if I'm going to have to change settings every time then I don't think I'll bother. :(

I'm assuming this bug is a function of the Braze part, not a function of D2K itself??? I'm tempted to contact Brasington about it even though he's out of the business.

Does it work on freeplay? You could set it to freeplay until you obtain another Nintendo cab. Although I completely understand the coin up as I use mine as a piggy bank. - Barry

Bringing this thread back from the dead in case anyone cares now or in the future...

Jeff created a special version of D2K for me which allows switching games with P1+P2 in the coin up scenario (as opposed to free play).

He gave me permission to distribute it to people on the condition that I only do so via email and that I encourage anyone without a burner to use HobbyRoms.com to burn it. So PM me with your email address if you're interested in this version of D2K.

While it's cool that they did this, I'm curious why it's not a standard feature? Why does it only work in freeplay in the first place?

Because of D2K being on location. You wouldn't want patrons accidentally (or on purpose) switching the game from one to the other. That said, I wish he just put it in the options menu.

I keep hoping he updates it to allow you to have different settings on each one (so you could set DK to 3 men and D2K to 6, for example)

I did that hack about 2 years ago, after Jeff told another user here it'd cost $100 of his time to make the 2-byte change to the code necessary to allow that.

Me too.

I must have asked him at just the right time, or else he liked me because we share the same first name. ;)

D2K is all of Jeff's work, I actually didnt find out about it until he was almost done.
He choose to use my HS kit as his platform which has been a nice sales boost.
Thanks Jeff! I have no idea how much if any of the original DK HS code he reused
or what changes he made. If I had known earlier when he was working on it, I'm sure
I could have saved him some time and maybe shared some of my ideas for his
enhancement. I released the DK HS kit almost 10 years ago (Aug 2000) and have
not really made any improvements to it since. I dont sell the D2K kits or upgrades,
but I do build them for arcadeshop. I never really got out of the business, I
got out of the "day to day" business and instead focused on just building the kits
in bulk for my suppliers. Anyways my point is that D2K is all Jeffs work possibly
using some of the original DK HS code like diags and setup menus support functions.
Any questions or changes for D2K would need to be run by him. I wonder if he
is working on anything new these day??

And I thank you, good sir, for your high score save half of the kit. I'm very happy having my 573k high score saved on it! :D
