DK red $800 ebay

I don't know the serial number fits the bill but I would ask for more pictures of the inside. On the other hand, $875 seems like a good deal considering it has the limited edition "freeplay" button installed on the coin door.

wow didn't catch the freeplay button, how lame is that - I'm pretty sure on DK you can swtich the dips to free play. looks like they must have remounted the monitor too, since no exposed bolt heads on side. dang what a disappointment...wouldn't pay $800 anyway haha

I see bolt heads on the left side.

Of course, the side art is mounted too high as well. (Every time I've seen original sideart, and from the bits remaining on mine, the bolts are always going through Pauline's top leg.)

Also, there's no freeplay in DK without an add-on daughtercard. It's one of the big annoyances of the game!

Having said all that... you'll probably never find a cheaper red DK. Of course, there's no telling what this "power surge" actally did to the machine. It could have fried more than the PS.

Blue

I see blue at the edge of the black piece just under the speaker grill. BEZEL APPEARS TO BE ORIGINAL. THE SIDE ART AND CP HAVE COPYRIGHTS.. THE ORIGINAL REDS HAVE NO COPYRIGHTS. MARQUEE IS REPRO. BEZEL STICKER IS REPRO. CP INSTRUCTION CARD APPEARS TO BE ORIGINAL. COIN MECHS ARE NOT ORIGINAL. THE FREEPLAY BUTTON IS MORE THAN LIKELY JUST A BUTTON CONNECTED TO THE COIN . BOLT PATTERN AND SERIAL ARE CORRECT FOR A RED. THIS IS A ORIGINAL CAB, BUT THATS ABOUT IT.

Looks like it somehow sold for... $400?!

Serial checks out, but it still smells fishy. That serial plate could have been bought, or even made, and this was obviously in the custody of someone with access to repro parts, which means they're "in the know"... which means anything's possible.

Well this is an interesting development, I shot him an offer of $400, he countered with $450 when I went to review the offer it looks like the auction ended and someone picked it up for $400.

What the heck!

I figured whatever they did to it, even if its originally a DK blue still can't go wrong with $400 unless the PCB or monitor chassis was smoked. I guess its someone elses problem now.

Thanks for the help in picking it apart. When I asked the guy for pictures of the inside btw he said 'I can't because I don't have the key that opens the back'.

LAME!
