I picked up a Donkey Kong on the cheap a month or so ago. The monitor wasn't working and when I turned it on, it also seemed to have an audio issue. I fixed the monitor, and rebuilt the audio board. The monitor now works perfectly, but the sound still has a slight hum and a wowowowowowowo sound. All the in-game sounds work fine, its just the hum and wowowowow sounds during attract mode and in the background while playing a game. If someone could please check the attached file and let me know if there is a simple fix. Thanks

That file extension is one that my computer can't read. So the wowowowowow, sound is something I can't comment on. The hum though is common of all DK's. You can barely hear it, or can't hear it when playing a game. But if you put your ear next to the speaker it sounds loud. If this describes the characteristics of the hum, then you don't need to worry. Maybe someone who can read the file, will be able to help you with the other sound. You could also try adjusting the audio balance pot on the DK PCB, to see if it goes away.

Humm is very typical for a Nintendo. The wowow noise is also not unheard of either. I'm not sure just how loud you actually have the volume but there is also a pot on the DK boardset that allows you to adjust what sounds are more prominent "digital vs analog"
You can try adjusting that.

Here's something you can take a look at - give you an idea of where maybe to look as well:

Quicktime will play it.....

A SLIGHT hum is normal.
But the sound wowowow sound he is describing is not.
Can't quite tell if it's a constant jump sound or what, but it ain't right for sure.
It's almost like the trailing end of the jump sound that never ends.

You're right. I double clicked on the file, and it came up as invalid. The and .3gpp is not an extension I'm familiar with. But opening quicktime and then opening the file that way made it play. Still can't be of any more help though.

But yeah, I agree it sounds like a loop of part of the jump sound.

I have this EXACT same issue. RPO ZO6 or digitalwack, were you ever able to find a resolution to this problem?

Please let me know, I'd really like to get rid of this nasty hum and wowowowowowowow on my cab too!
