So, I currently have a DK CT that has been converted to Popeye. I would like to convert it back and get a different cab to put Popeye in. With any luck I can sell the DK for enough to cover the cost of a cabinet and such for Popeye.

Anybody have a fairly good idea of what a DK cocktail might sell for? And how much the boards and glass are going to cost to convert it back?

Thanks for the input!

Shawn

I would think it would not be worth it to convert it back and sell it.

$400 is the high end in my opinion. The beauty of it is, it doesn't matter what my opinion is and you just need to find the right buyer.

DK cocktails seem to sell at $350-$400 in my area.

We're in the same area. That is about what I figured, but I haven't seen one for sale around here since I started collecting. People want retarded prices for their uprights around here.

Yeah, I'm not looking to make any money off it. I just can't stand having a jump button on my Popeye. But I don't want to lose my ass on it. I paid $300 for it, and I think for $200-$250 I might be able to get it back to original. I wouldn't mind losing 50 bucks on the deal.

Jeez, how'd I miss that? One of the local PAC guys just sold a nice DK without the sideart for $550. Not too bad a price if it's a game you gotta own. The last cocktail I saw in our area, was about 3 months ago, I believe was another collector down in Eugene. Think he nabbed $350 from it.

Do you have a pic? If it was a DK cocktail, all you would need is instruction cards (besides boards and a wiring harness). The glass is clear (or should be). This is how a DK cocktail should look:

Where to begin?....

You don't have a Donkey Kong cocktail that has been converted to Popeye. You have a Donkey Kong JR cocktail that has been converted to Popeye. Donkey Kong cocktails only house the smaller 4-board PCB sets, and although I have seen such a Popeye PCB, I sincerely doubt you have one.

Little brown bucket with a 13" monitor = DK cocktail
Larger brown bucket with black glass top and 17" monitor = DKJR/Popeye cocktails.

The only difference between a Popeye cocktail and a DKJR, besides the instruction stickers, is Popeye uses the classic Nintendo orange button, and a slightly different CPO (word "punch" instead of "jump"). So if you really want to restore it back to what it was, that would be DKJR ;)

As for values, well a DK cocktail is worth about as much as the PCB inside it, they're practically worthless. A JR or Popeye table is worth slightly more for the desirable and rare larger monitor, around $300. If you're missing glass and need to buy a PCB - walk away. You stand to lose alot more than $50 turning it back and trying to flip it.

Sorry, I'm a bit brain dead when I'm at work. Yes, it is a DK JR cocktail. I have never seen the glass on a JR before and wasn't sure if it was original. I assume then that the JR's did not have any silkscreening, just the instruction cards?

If I don't need to buy glass, I should just about break even on the deal. A JR pcb goes for about the same as a Popeye pcb. I'll spend a few bucks on instructions sheets for JR and have the instructions and pcb for Popeye to put in a different cab. I will have spent maybe $400 on it, and have about a $300 cab with about $100 in parts left to use later.

Not even sure I want to sell it when I'm done. I do love me some JR.

Thanks for the great info!
