Dk pcb

I would order this right now....I cant tell is this is an original board that hasnt been modded or worked on.

Can anyone verify that its good? If so I'll buy it.

1. It works
2. Shipping is free
3. It is still there to buy
4. It looks orig to me
5. It's 60 bucks

. . . . . . . :D

Looks incomplete to me. Hard to tell with the picture in the auction. I believe that there should be a smaller board in front of the board in the picture. I'd see if you could get some more pictures first.

well I decided to take the plunge and send in a best offer.... got it for $50 :D

lets hope this thing is orig and works!!

and thanks dezbaz for pointing this out

I sent the seller a email via eBay around 2pm asking if it was an original dk board complete and was it tested working.

Never got an answer. $50 is worth a gamble though.

Lol I also sent an e-mail around that time and never got a response....but your right, for $50 bucks I couldnt resist

It is definitely NOT an original board - or any version I've ever seen, and I have 5 or 6 various ones laying around ;)

It is mounted to a cocktail/cabaret 4-board-style plate (though it too differs from original), and as another user noted, it appears to be missing at least the audio board. Upon closer examination, it is evident that this board never had a seperate audio board, and the various harness connectors are in different locations, as well as the dipswitch bank. Note the lack of Nintendo copyrights, or any TKG lettering on the board as well, nor are there any socketed eproms on the shown side of the board (and all 4 DK original boards have eproms on them).

In short, it is a bootleg. But they do say it works, so $50 isn't bad per se, just noone else will probably ever want it from you :p

I'm not exactly sure what is different about a bootleg vs. a normal pcb.

Will it perform exactly like the original DK board or will it just be an emulation type deal?

I think that if i get an answer quickly I can contact ebay (I bought it an hour ago or so) to get a refund.

I don't have any personal experience playing on boots, but from what I understand it would be sort of a combination of original + emu. Bootleg boards use the original rom data dumps (sometimes slightly modified) in combination with similar IC layouts to "reproduce" the original cheaply. All of the rom data may be condensed onto a single chip or a series of chips and is then run on the boards' ram and cpu components - which may or may not reproduce the original EXACTLY the same. That is, they may use the same processor and speed but a simplified design for other functions, like different audio processors, slightly faster or slower ram chips, etc.

Generally speaking, it will likely play the same. But there may be subtle nuances an experienced player/collector would notice, typically audio tones or changes, and usually freeplay on newer XX-in-1 types (which this board is almost assuredly not). A more experienced eye may have seen this particular boot before and could tell you more...

IMO, still maybe not a "bad" buy, boots are just less desirable in general.
