Picked up this poor oldtimer yesterday! It's in decent shape, except some asshole drilled bolt holes in the side in order to flip the monitor. I was originally going to 19-in-1 it and flip it, but now I am thinking of deconverting and keeping this in the permenant collection...lol.

I'm no good at DK or DKjr. but find them both cool. I like DKjr. abit better, but DK is more of a classic.

Out of curiosity, what would YOU do, and why?

DK Jr because the color of the cabinet and I'm lazy. I enjoy DK Jr more than DK. Plus you can get DK Jr stuff cheaper.

Dk Jr is a much better game too. I would probably still use the 60 in 1 board in it though.

FYI, put a 60 in 1 in there and the sound will not be right. DK Jr. uses analog sound for several of the sounds and none of these emulators can reproduce the sound. I say, if you're going to do it, do it right.

You might also consider doing a Mario Bros. conversion kit in there.

I'd go DK Junior, you can play both as others have said - same wiriing. If the cabinet is in good shape other than the extra holes you don't need to paint. You can just fill the holes and put the junior sideart on it as it should cover them. I'd guess that cab was converted to a Vs game before it became a Klax.- Barry

I say sand it down, fill the holes, paint it blue, and turn it into a DK.

I just so happen to have a DK Bezel and Marquee almost minty fresh for sale...

Why not just rape donkey kong jr. while you're at it!

Both...

(it no longer runs the crappy 60-in-1... there is an Arcadeshop board in it running DK, DKJR, DK3, DK2, and Mario Bros).

Though DK is the far superior game, I'm going to have to go with Jr. since the cabinet is orange and original to Jr. You could always get the Double DK kit, right?

Thanks for chiming in, guys! I'm leaning toward DKjr. This is a project that will have to wait until fall, as it is dirtbike season, and this baby here is taking up all my spare time and money!

I'd say keep it a jr. as it looks like it was originally, I'd also wait some because a guy here (forgot username) is working on an adapter so you can run other compatible Nintendo pcb's in it, then pick up a DK boardset and add the D2K highscore save kit to have a truly unique 3-1 Kong experience, I didn't add DK 3 into the equation because I think they shouldn't have tried to make us think it was a true sequel to the DK series but it should have been a different name and not sequenced, I think it would have been better received bitd if it had.
Kind of the same thing I have in my DK cab but without the switcher...but I am waiting patiently.....:)
