DK/Nintendo smooth Paint job?

Searching the forums for "donkey kong sand bare" only produces one hit... in which audiomidiman recommends giong "right down to the bare cabinet." (http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=33910&highlight=donkey+kong+sand+bare&page=2) I didn't perform this exact search beforehand, but I did search a bit and didn't come across anyone advising against sanding to bare wood.

I think I would have searched for "Donkey restoration" or "Nintendo restoration" or "Popeye Restore" or "Mario Restoration" or something along those lines. You really searched for "donkey kong sand bare"? I like that.

When I did my Punch-Out!! restoration, I followed advice from Phetishboy which was not to sand down to bare wood and don't use primer. The results were excellent. Nintendo restorations are not the same as any other cab in which case I usually sand down to the wood and prime.

Best Ninty Restore ever. You really did a nice job on that one.

Now that one would probably have gotten me because I'm so used to priming before paint.

I just got a nintendo cab that was converted to a jail break that I will be restoring to a DIIK. Anyone have the best nintendo restore project link? Thanks.
