DK machine: Should I Paint or Cover sides? I saw a collector's paint job. It looked minty. A lot of time spent though. Wondering has anyone had experience with the blue covering that's out there?

I've done both.

Painting is a good finish (as you said, take the time to do it right).

However, for best vinyl results, you're going to have to have a tinted primer underneath.

Phet has some great photos of this.

Ive done 4 now, and they all look pretty great. Still, I think the original finish is better. So its up to you if it looks so bad you want to redo it.

not sure what blue covering you speak of. If you mean vinyl then I suggest you just paint. Vinyl requires you basically get the surface flawless and do all the same work you would do for paint. Including paint. Once you have a perfect painted surface then you can apply your vinyl. Simply painting is a bit more forgiving and will still look good. Plus closer to original.
