Had my pcb disconnected for about a week or so and decided to connect it a get a few games in. Checked all the connections, turned in on, and all I got was a gray screen. Turned it off, checked all the connections. Same thing. Unplugged all of them, plugged them in again, turned on, same thing.

What gives?

The only thing that happened when I disconnected the board was one of the "U" shaped pieces of metal fell off one of the chips. What are these pieces of metal for anyway?

Thanks in advance.....

just remembered....

not sure if it's that big of a deal, but went to play the game yesterday, turned it on and it wasn't working. quickly turned it off, opened the back and realized that i didn't plug the DK jr back in. Deceided I didn't want to play a game that bad and went upstairs.

I don't think that would do anything....would it?

Sounds like the monitor has no video input. Check the cable at the monitor or inverter card (if it has one) That "U" shaped metal piece is a heat sink. It's needed to keep what ever chip it came from cool. I would try to reattach it with some heat conducting epoxy. That is if you can find some.

ok, i'll check the cables, but what is weird is when you turn the game on when working, you get a couple test noises. i'm not getting that now. so i don't think it's just a video issue...i could be wrong...

also, these connectors fit into one connector only, therefore it's hard to plug something in wrong. the only ones i can see being close the same is audio and service connectors.

update, double checked all connections and the connector that is difficult to get to on the back side corner of the board was a touch loose, but still connected. was able to get my hands back there in a position to make sure there was a good connection. works!! yes!

thanks for the input guys!
