I just got his board back from repair...

tested perfect in my DK cab..

I brought the DK jr cab in and installed it today.

With the sound all the way down there is a super loud hum, uncomfortable loud.

if I turn it up just a hair.. you get the game sounds, but the loud distorted hum just as loud.

if you turn it up a bit louder.. the hum / hiss take over... seems I can't get it turned down low enough and good clean sound.

And the left side of the screen is cut off... as you can see in this crappy vid..

I tried adjustments, nothing brought it back.. the coil (width)? adjustment on the chassis didn't do anything as I turned it.. on my DK is screw almost all the way down into the coil.. on this JR, its almost all the way out.. but doesn't adjust anything..

Thoughts on the sound and left screen issue? Monitors look to be the same in both cabs.. Does JR have a separate volume control on the board or elsewhere? although in my DK cab it was perfect sound and level..

or just a bad speaker??

** btw.. the camera is out of focus.. not the monitor ! :)

I was referring to the video cutoff problem, the sound problem is most likely a cap on the small audio amp board, most Kong series suffer from 120hz hum in the audio in varying degrees.

Dick,

ok... I was thinking a cap rebuild in the audio board..

I knew the board was perfect from trying in my DK cab earlier...

I ll do the cap audio board and the cap you referred to...

tks :)

What you have is foldover, and Dick has told you how to fix it. Recap the audio section of the monitor to fix the sound issue.

sounds good... I got piles of new caps here.. but only enough for about 1/2..

will get the rest tomorrow... now if I can find my soldering gun..

ok,, got it fixed :)

Capped the entire monitor since I had it all out anyways...

and rebuilt the audio board..

Works great.. didn't even have to adjust anything....

thanks Dick and Dokert, everyone for the input.....
