I'm almost finished with the restoration of my DK Jr. arcade. The original side art is long gone and I want to replace it.

The machine currently has all 5 monitor bolts in place on each side. Is the proper restoration to leave all the bolts as is, or to fill in the horizontal bolt holes and leave the vertical ones? Does it really matter or is it just personal preference?

I can see the left over pieces of side art around all the bolts so I know they were all there originally.

I remove the bolts, put the side art on, then replace all of the bolts. That's how they all come to me, that's how they leave me.

That's what I was thinking of doing. I've seen some restorations where they fill in those horizontal bolts. It looks a little better with the the bolts gone, but then I feel the cab is modified.

The cabinet was used as a horizontal at one time and you are converting it (restoring it) to a vertical, in this case I've always blocked off the extra holes, add the artwork and then put the two bolts per side back into it. No right or wrong way of doing these things of course.

And I lied, I did send a DKJr out with no horz bolts installed, but I did not fill the holes. Just put the artwork on and installed the vert bolts.

The machine is all original so I haven't done any modifications to it. The only things needed to be replaced were the t molding, and instruction card. The buttons are discolored, but original and the cpo overlay is in good shape as well except for the fact that the red color in it is all faded out.

It has a few dings and scrapes, but I felt it was in good enough condition to leave as is without patching and repainting.
