Hey guys. Got a DK Jr. that has shown no signs of life :( Testing the power at places and these readings seem odd to me. Is the transformer not doing its job? Shouldn't it be just 100V here? Or am I measuring wrong? Thanks all. -Keith

Yes, those are high. They should be closer to 100v.

Load? I'm not quite sure what you mean.

A load. You know. Something for it to drive. Like a monitor or even just a regular lamp. If there's no load on a transformer, it'll always read higher than it's supposed to. If it's still reading too high, it could be wired backwards, serving as a step up rather than a step down transformer. Try plugging a lamp with a 100w bulb in it into the power socket, and see what the voltage reads.

But, frankly, the slight variation between isolation transformer output voltage rarely makes much difference. I've also seen Sanyo's running happily on 120v from a normal isolation transformer in conversion games pieced together by ops. The input voltage is simply rectified, and then it's regulated to get the 108v on the B+. A difference of 20v just makes it run hotter. It shouldn't make it not work at all.

You say the game is dead - do you get any DC output on the power supply? Do you get neck glow? What's the monitor B+? Is the small fuse on the monitor blown?

Thanks for the explanation Ian, got it. No neck glow and I did replace the monitor fuse. I'll have to re-check the other readings.
