Does anybody know what the deal is with the DK Junior CPOs that have Mario with the white overalls?

I have one CPO with the red overalls, but the cpo that originally came with my machine is the version with white overalls. This doesn't seem to be fading, it seems to be by design. Did the white overall version come out first?

Anybody have any info on this?

I don't know for sure, but I would think that the white version was either later, or actually is faded although it doesn't look like it.

If you look at the flyers for the game, you can barely make out that Mario has red overalls on. I would assume the flyers came out when the game first started getting made so the early one on the flyer had red overalls.

Is your cabinet one of the later sawdust cabinets?

I would've thought so too (the fading) but if you look at the pic in this thread (http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=181964&highlight=kong) (mine looks like this one and I don't have a photo of mine) you'll see the bird isn't faded, DK and DK Jr. aren't faded. However, the title "Donkey Kong Junior" is white.

If not fading, maybe the red ink layer was accidentally (or for cost reasons) skipped? There is no red in the logo either.

This sounds possible. "No red ink left, boss"....."Well, run them without red, we can't stop production".

Actually on my DK JR cocktail, the instructions cards are more or less fine except the red is 100% faded away. I wonder if there's something about red in general (or specifically the red Nintendo used at this time) that caused it to fade faster.

It's completely possible that all the red faded away and the rest of the colors were fine. I dont' know for sure, just floating the theory.

Anybody who has a faded Ms. Pac marquee can atest to that. The pink just completely dissapears, and it looks like the thing was printed white.

Regardless though, it would probably be from a certain run of the game, so instead of "When were the white ones printed" it's "When were the ones with bad ink printed" ... so it's the same question, was it early or late in the run?

Alot of the red inks used back then are very prone to fading. Not just mspac but mappy is another one that comes to mind. Try to find a mappy marquee that is not faded. I have seen the red completely faded away on them.
All the inks will fade but for some reason the red was the worst.
Is there any other red on the CP?
