I was soooooo close, or so I thought.

I bought a cocktail about a year and a half ago - advertised as a Sky Shark - turns out to be a real nice DK Jr. Anyways.... when they were loading it they whacked the 5V ?Earth Fuse? (never heard of that one but I know what/where it is now!) and broke both the leads off of it. I thought it was going to be an easy fix. Yeah, right.

So I dig into it tonight. I pull the power supply out and manage to get to the fuse case. I solder both leads back on (I hope I got it right - both are white and both were disconnected.) I put everything back together and fired it up. Nothing. Well, not exactly.

I can see that the monitor is getting power. When I turn the lights off there is a white glow, and when I power down the scan lines collapse. So my thoughts are that the board isn't getting any power.

1) How do I test the connector for power? (I can't find a DK Jr. cocktail manual so if you know what is what or if the pin out on the PCB connector is the same for the UR please someone let me know)

2) Could I have dicked up the re-solder or crossed wires? No burning - no smell - monitor is getting juice, or so it seems. Your thoughts??????????

Edge connector
1, A
2, B
21, Y
22, Z
are all ground

3, C
4, D
are +5vdc

5, E
are +12vdc

6, F
are -5vdc

Pull the edge connector, then power up and test for proper voltages.

Thanks Dokert. I am in for the night so I will pull it tomorrow after work and report back.

I knew I could count on you.

Thanks Elf! (Stand by because my next project is getting my 2 player Gauntlet working - no power at all on that one).

I want to turn this back into a DK Jr, but I want to get it working first. The Sky Shark board is a Jamma board, does anyone know what type of boards the DK Jr board(s) are? Can I just slap it/them back in the cab? I have never seen the DK Jr cocktail board(s) so I am curious.

Thanks all -

Pics posted on my other thread

Elf, I threw some pics up on my other thread (helpless in seattle)

I will take more tonight.

Tested the voltage

Well, I tested the voltage. I have power coming out of the block and checked it at the ribbon cable. It is a Jamma cable, not the DK cable. I got my +5.1 and +12 at the cable, which makes me think it may be the board. Hmmm.....

I checked the board and there are no scorch marks, no burned traces; everything looked great. I am searching locally to see if anyone has a Jamma test rig to test it on.

If you have a Jamma cable in there, then that is your problem as DK will NOT run on a Jamma cable.
