I installed my DK II set into my DK tonite, when I booted it up, I got the normal start up sound, but the screen displayed garbage numbers in all different colors. Can someone tell me what I did wrong? Could this be caused by hooking up one of the PCB Connectors wrong? Thanks.

are you sure the chips are socketed the correct direction? That would be the first thing I check. And also check that the chips/kit are seated properly.

If you installed any of the chips backwards you stand a very good chance of having a toasted PROM or two on your hands.
Like any other game the sockets have an indent/notch on one end and the chip itself with either have a notch/indent or sometimes a circle on one end. You match those up.

Your Z80 has a dimple in one corner, that represents where pin 1 is. Match it up to the "1" on the daughter card. Your Z80 also has a half moon on the top (or bottom), imagine looking at all the chips on your PCB in a row, make sure that half moon is facing the same direction as all your other chips.

If that fails, try reseating your chips, and inspect for loose, bent or damaged pins. Also check for dirty pins.

The socket for the z80 on the dk board will have a notch in one end. The z80 that originally went into this socket will also have either a notch in one end. Or if not a notch a dot or circle usually same color as chip on one end. The notched end of the z80 goes to the notched end of the socket. The kit also has a socket for the z80 that you pull from your board. This socket will also have a notch in it. Install the z80 into the kit so the notch on the z80 and the notch on the socket on the kit line up. Install the kit so that the notches on the socket for the z80 on the DK board and the notch on the socket for the z80 on the kit line up.

Make sense?

I checked the orientation of the chip in the daughter board, so its just the small circle near the one. I pushed the daughter board down, and felt it lock into place, still getting a junk screen.... What else should I try?

Personally I would probably remove the kit and swap the z80 back on to the DK board to be sure the board still works without issue.

Ok i got it going, the kit just wasnt pressed in hard enough. working fine now... except for a needed cap kit... The elevator lines on level one are kinda squiggly.
