I have a DK 4 board set that is having some problems. I have removed all socketed chips and cleaned and reseated them as well as reseated all interboard connectors. I replace 1 corroded capacitor but I still have issues. I checked Brasington's info and although some of the problems look close, they aren't exactly the same. Any info appreciated.

The sounds seem OK but the walking sound seems higher pitched than my 2 board set. Any ideas on that as well.

It's a TKG-2 boardset. - Barry

I have a 2 board set I could swap eproms with to check it, but brasington 2-4 board maps are off. On the board it says the chips are at 7c, 7d, 7e and 7fon the video board, and the corresponding locations on the 4 board are 4m,4n,4r and 4 s aon the clk board. The problem is that my clk board doesn't have any sockets at all. The video board however has locations 3a,3b,3c and 3d. Are these the same? - Barry

Barry -

Unforturnatly I can't help with the color issues so hopefully someone else can help on that soon.

Two notes:

1) Your TKG2 boarset has the ROM upgrade that's eliminates the ladder cheat.
2) Don't discount the walking sound as wrong. I also have a TKG2 boardset and the walking sound is also different than any of my 2 board sets. I can't confirm but it may be something with the converted Radarscope boardset that has a unique walking sound compared to the dedicated DK 4 board set and the later 2 board set.

I'm really shooting from the hip here but did you check 2J and 2K on the CPU board? They are the only chips that have been replaced on my board. They are color maps. That's some sorry troubleshooting logic and advice but I thought I would throw it out there.

It's hard to tell with your pictures but it looks like it's not firing all the guns to create brown (or shades of) when it should. It's just firing the blue guns at times.

Sweetaction was going to hook me up with a working 4 boardset to do some troubleshooting but after I looked at his, mine is indeed different. He has TKG-3 boardsets which seem to jive with the Braze list of eprom locations. I have a TKG-2 boardset which is a converted Radarscope boardset and totally different CLK and VID boards.
