I know the front board is different between the two, but the back board (with the two pots on it) looks the same layout (except for the screen printing). Are they the same? Could I swap a working DKjr back board into a DK set (with DK chips of course) and get it to work? Or are there differences I'm not seeing upon casual inspection?

Your right, the Video boards do appear to be the same but have different part numbers.
I have both sitting here and can't find a difference just looking other than that.

I'm sure there are some differences.

You can double donkey kong DKJR boards, but not regular DK boards - If that helps at all.

I tried putting the DK chips in the back DKjr board and paired with a front DK board and I'm getting stuff on the screen, but it's not booting. Not sure if the problem is the chips, but I know the DKjr board works...

No, they're not the same... DKJr has bigger roms and an addition bank switch line wired in from the top board.

You can DDK both boards... Braze was just really cheap and lazy in the design of his kit so it only works on Jr... if he'd made daughterboards instead of hacking the board to bank up the roms, the kit could work on either.

Thanks, Mark. Guess I'll figure out why the DK one isn't working for me. I was told it was tested in a DK with the ribbon cables, but using an edge connector and the power cable between the boards isn't giving me anything...
