Was just playing my DK/DK2 Machine and switched from DK too DK2 and then back DK . At first scores where fine but the 3rd Highest score was missing it's 3rd number.

then i went too DK2 and back too DK was the same. Then i turned the machine off and i got a Boot Failure on High score *said Bad * by it.

Turned the machine back off and on and all my setting where changed and high scores where gone.

Anyway i can get this back or are they gone forever?

Is this going too happen often? Has anyone else had this problem?

If the 93c46 went bad, they're gone forever... if the PAL went bad, there's a chance it didn't corrupt the 93c46, and your scores might be fine.

If the 93c46 (Little chip on DK2 kit )went bad, they're gone forever... if the PAL (Medium sized skinny chip on DK2 kit) went bad, there's a chance it didn't corrupt the 93c46, and your scores might be fine.

I believe these are what Mark is talking about Brian, and yes they do go bad.

Thankyou both for responding Yes Dave is right i don'nt have a clue on what each chip does. How do i really know which chip is the problem and looking into replacing it? How can the chip be fine sometimes and the next time give this boot Failure?
Or lose scores by just switching games back and forth?
Strange how the scores could come and go like that. I think i could have gotten my scores back if i would'nt have shut the machine off when it happened.

thanks again for everyone's time

COuld just be a bad soldering job.... if the game's still booting and can switch between games, the pal's probably fine... you should be able to find a 93c46 for $.40 or so....

Mine did the same thing,it was missing a digit on the #3 H.S. till I knocked it off the board.
Everything seems to fine now. I haven't had any other problems.
