I have a dk jr in a blue cab. this might been asked before but i had no luck searching for it, but back to my question, did dk jr ever come in a blue cabinet? i thought dk was in blue or red and all jrs are in orange. i have a jr in a blue cab with jr side art which i know could have been thrown on it. the serial tags dont have the game name like the segas frogger cabs.

Tkg serial is a dk
Djr serial is a junior
But tags canbe switched if a conversion.

To my knowledge, I don't think Nintendo issued original Juniors in the blue DK cab, but guess it is possible, since the DKs were originally put in the left over red Radar Scope cabs. May be an early one, may be a conversion. Sure others will chime in with more historical knowledge than I. Not hard to switch back to a DK with just an art set and boards.

true but its tag shows dk jr. i dont know why someone would take off the original side art paint it blue and then put new art on it. makes no sense to me but people do stupid shit

There was a post about this just last week. Seems to point that Nintendo did release some Jr.'s in a blue cab.

Check the white (monitor adjustment) sheet stapled to the inside of the back door. Does the upper right hand say "TKG-UP" or does it say DJR1-UP"? If DJR1-UP, Are there staple holes from a previous sheet being put there?

The tags were often switched out for field conversions, so you might see a VS tag in place of a DK tag but that doesn't mean the game was never a DK. It was less common for operators to switch out the monitor adjustment sheet on the inside of the back door.

It's entirely possible that some blue DK Jrs were out there, the Japanese flyer even shows DK Jr. in a blue cab. However, I'm not sure we've ever had good "proof" of a blue DK Jr.

In most cases the original poster never follows up or posts pictures or replies with a vague answer of some sort.

the metal tag has the djr1-up on the back of the cab

Yeah, this is what I'm talking about as far as not enough info. Those metal tags were FREQUENTLY swapped out so the existence of the tag itself isn't very helpful.

Check out this post.

I'm 90% certain this was a dedicated Blue DK Jr. but the original poster checked the back tag, checked the monitor adjustment sheet, checked the remnants of the side art under the bolts (pink and black on the right where DK's hand would be and purple on the left where the bird's wing would be), checked for evidence of previous tag swaps, etc. The tag itself really doesn't tell you much but if you do enough digging you can maybe figure it out.

the inside on the back door shows djr1-up. i guess that could be swapped as well but its in great shape for the age of it with no tears or rips. is there any other place i can verify it?

Doesn't help confirm as I think you've already confirmed enough, but I'm curious what model power supply is in your cab?

Is the sideart still there? If not you could check under the bolts for remnants of that.

I can't say I've ever seen a "kit manual" for DK Jr. but there are manuals for DK3 and the "kit" includes a new back door sheet and tells the op to change the back door sheet as part of the conversion. They also tell the OP to put the new metal tag ABOVE the old one, rather than replacing it entirely.

I think the best way to check is close inspection of the parts that are removed during a conversion. For example, if you remove the ID tag you can likely tell if it's ever been removed before. If it looks like this is the first time the screws have ever been backed out of the holes then that tells you it's probably a dedicated cab. If the back-door sheet had been changed, you'd see the old staple holes from where the TKG-UP back-door sheet was (you'd have to remove the sheet to tell thought). In any event, if the game has been sitting completely undisturbed since being assembled at the factory, you can usually tell by the lack of wear in certain areas. If, on the other hand, you take off the metal tag and the screw holes are all stripped out like the tag has been removed in the past, then that probably lets you know its a conversion.

pt821b is what on the transformer. looks to be exactly the same as my dk
the sheet is in perfect condition and has no holes where staples might have been. metal plate looks to have never been removed but anything can be possible

Guys are we ever going to find the real answer? It may be converted it may be not, the real question is when are you buying a nintendo board switcher and putting the real dk in there :D
