I need to remove the metal strip from the bottom of an original DK bezel so I can place it on a new bezel. Can someone who has removed one of these tell me how you did it hopefully without damaging the bezel? It seems to either be glued on or pinched very tightly. I tried laying a piece of wood across the lip on the front and beating it off, but it didn't budge.

I squirted lighter fluid in the seam to loosen up the adhesive on mine. Then used a small flat blade screw driver on one end to gently start prying it up. It took a lot of time and patience.

hay phets got a new friend.

anyway you did loosen the top from behind the machine above the monitor right?

I just removed my Popeye & DKJr last night to repaint the bracket. I carefully pryed it with a small flat screwdriver from one side (on the ends - not the face). Once it starts to lift, I repositioned it in a little farther and did some more prying. Once I had maybe a half inch of space, switched to just pulling if off with the hands.

The key is getting it to start to pry. Seems like there was some sort of weatherstripping with adhesive in there and/or rust in there that needs to break free from the bezel.

Beside the lighterfluid or GOO GONE use a flat 1 1/2" - 2" putty knife...a good strong one. Stick it in between the bezel and the bracket and work it side to side all the way down on both sides. After doing that a couple times each side I took a rubber mallet and tapped the end of the knife just to make sure all the adhesive was cut through.
Then try to slowly pry the bracket off the bezel.

That's how I did it...it seemed to work fine for me...pretty tedious but the results were no damage to the bezel.

Good luck,
ERIC
