I am in the process of fixing up my original boardset to my game. DK 4-board TKG-2 stack. The only problem I am having trouble with is that the sound Mario makes when he jumps is not the right sound. It has sort of a two tone sound.

Any help pointing to the proper circuit on the sound board associated with the jump sound would be great.

What are the numbers on your board? I can send you that part of the schematic if I have it, or something close if I don't.

I don't know anything about fixing boards, but I do know that jump sound is analog.

Here is the schematic for the sound board on TK2-04. It's 4 scans for each page that go in this order: Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Left, Bottom Right. If you've got photoshop you might try to stitch them together.

These are big files but I'm assuming zoom will be your friend. These are in color. If you think black and white will be more ledgible let me know.

Also, again, I don't know how to read this stuff, but if I had to guess I'd say you're dealing with the "synth" sounds. I don't know which is which though.

Thanks for the schematics. Big help getting started. I was able to start maping P5 and found the jump sound is "sound1". The walking sound is "sound 0". I will try and map all the sounds to see what they correspond to.

I had very limited time and did not get much more than that complete. I checked the transistors, diodes, and resistors in the sound 1 circuit and only found a couple resistors that were not reading right but didn't get a chance to check if it was just because they were in circuit.

I tested all the caps on the board with my CapAnalyzer 88A before I had the schematics. The only one I had a problem with was C50 and it was interesting as the CapAnalyzer wouldn't even go into test mode on that cap. Once I got the schematics I can see that this cap plays a role in the jump sound. Don't know if it's the problem yet but hope to do more tonight.

Good luck. Thanks for the info on which sounds are which. Are the schematics workable for you that way? I want to make sure they're usable before getting too far into the scanning.

C50 was it. Jump sound is back to normal. Here is what I have on P5 on the sound board:

sound 0 = Walk Sound = Pin 6
sound 1 = Jump Sound = Pin 7
Sound 2 = DK stomping = Pin 8
Sound 3 = Credit Up Game = Pin 9
Sound 5 = Points (Jumping over barrel/fireball) = Pin 11

That's as far as I got so far.

The scans were great. No problem reading at all. I can't wait to get the full set.
