alright guys, ive gotta replace my gears in my steering column due to cracks. Ive taken apart everything but came to a ridiculously stupid problem. I cant get the piece from the column thats in the picture to slide off the motherF&**# steering column. there are no allen wrench screws in it either to tighten it to the shaft like the gears have. is there a secret to this? it looks like it should just slide off.

The metal alloy rings tend to fuse themselves quite firmly. I tilt the whole assembly back, spray and soak it in some Bolt Ease, then lightly hammer the shaft, being mindful to put a plastic block between the metal and the hammer so as not to damage the metal shaft.

jeez. I spent two hours working on figuring out what was wrong with this part. I hammered, cussed, threw some tools... it just didnt make sense. what i ended up figuring out was that that bearing piece had made the tiniest lip indention around the wheel shaft that was keeping the piece from sliding off. I didnt see it until i really really examined the piece. I filed it down and the dern thing slid off. now to get some replacement gears...
