Disneyland's Starcade as of 8.17.10

OK, how about this. Take the SW theme off that ride. Is it still cool? Do you think "Cruising California" or whatever its called at CA Adventure is that awesome? Did you think Days of Thunder at Great America was awesome?

(please dont say yes to any of those)

If you take the Star Wars theme off, it probably wouldn't be as enjoyable, but I think that's what makes it a good ride for me (though, I am a huge Star Wars fan). I think having a good theme helps with the overall feel and value of any ride/game.

And yes, I did enjoy Soarin' Over Califonia. But again, it's all personal preference and opinion. I mean you could go on all day about how some of the things I like suck in your opinion. I hope it doesn't come to that. Haha.

We can just agree that we have different opinions and views of what is "fun" and "exciting." :)

What is there to love? You sit in a chair and watch 5 mins of a movie while said chair vibrates. Its awful. The only reason I went on it in June was because my wife mentioned she had never been on it. After telling her "you aren't missing anything", she insisted. She was colored disappointed to say the least.

Christ, lighten up. I like the ride even though it makes me sick. I actually like standing in line better, because it feels like C3PO is really talking directly to me. Like no one else is in the room but him and I. Gives me the wet willys just thinking about it.

Star Tours is a decent ride. Half the fun is the line... with all the cool Star Wars props, etc.

Sure...it's not "awesome" by any stretch, but it's still cool. But hell, I like It's a Small World too..

I forgot to mention this as well. Being a huge fan of the original movies, I really enjoy walking through the line and seeing all the mechanicals and props. It gives off a nice ambiance that you don't get on most rides. I have a lot of fond memories as a kid going on Star Tours. It made me feel like I was in the movie.

I know, I know. It still sucks to you Jow. But let me enjoy it. :)

When I went on Star Tours last summer, my wife's niece's boyfriend was smoking pot during the ride. I couldn't believe it.

The line......is the reason my trip to Disney World this summer will be the last for a LONG time.
I paid 80.00 per adult and 65.00 for the kids for each of those parks what a rip-off. Braved the HOT weather and went on 2 rides in 6 hours in Animal Kingdom. Where's the fun that? Every ride empties out into a store where I have a choice be the grinch or santa.

I swear that those parks are designed to make everyone 'cry' the adults at the cost and the kids becasue the parents constantly have to say No to everything.

The financial impact of that trip I could have gone to Europe and all I got was a tan and a lighter wallet.

I hear ya, but we got a great discount through my wife's work and got into Club 33 (which includes the Park Hopper ticket) so it was definitely worth it for us.

Also, we were spoiled to have my in-laws with us to help us with our baby daughter. So they would wait in line (when we didn't get a fast pass or non-FP rides) and then we would use swap passes (FP for people with babies). It acts as an automatic fast pass. 2 people wait in line and ride, then when they come out, the next 2 people go on using the swap pass. So for Toy Story Midway Mania (45 min wait time), my in-laws went through the whole ordeal and when they came out, we used our swap pass to get on the ride instantly.

If you don't have a baby, if you plan well enough with fast passes, you could actually be pretty efficient. But I know it always depends on how busy the park is.

my trip to Disney World this summer

There is your problem bro. You cant go to these places in the middle of the summer when school is out. Plan ahead and take time off work (if possible) in the middle of the school year. You will be happy you did. I cant tell you how many times in my life I have been to D'land on a Wed in the middle of school and rode everything multiple times in 1/2 a day. Its awesome.

REVAMPED STAR TOURS RIDE...

not sure if anyone posted this yet, but the new ride is going to be similair to the EPISODE 1 POD RACING experience :(

riding through the canyons of tattoine in your pod racer..

curious if disney/lucasfilm will include a young cutsie anakin in the mix (blah).

i was always thinking a cool star tours theme would be on the planet of ENDOR (racing through the trees, dodging biker scouts and at-sts, flying ewoks, etc).

Just watched Return of the Jedi last night down in the Starlite. Daughter loved it, son fell asleep. Great flick.

Fast Passes Secret

speaking of FAST PASSES....

if you have a season pass, or know someone with season passes make sure to KEEP your old season pass card. you can use your old expired cards for fast passes anytime. they are still GOOD and will continue to work for multiple fast passes for you and your family.

its a win / win for everyone :)

this technique works @ the anaheim disneyland.

I'd like to hear about the captain eo tribute ride. Is it the same as the original or a scaled down version. Always wanted to see that one in particular.

It's not a ride. It's just the original 3D short film. They call it "Tribute" because it was re-released by overwhelming request from fans after his death. It was originally released in 1986 exclusively at Disney parks. Executive produced by George Lucas, directed by Francis Ford Coppola. They didn't alter anything for this re-release. It's shown as it was back in the 80s and early 90s.

More info:
Captain EO

It's basically a mash up of a Michael Jackson video and Star Wars. But in 3D and with some interactive motions/effects in the seats. If you're a fan of Michael Jackson and/or Star Wars, you'd enjoy it.

From what I've heard, it's just the movie. All the props and special effects that went along with the original film were trashed after they stopped running it, so they weren't able to recreate anything.

Just saw this the other night and its 90 percent original...only missing a few effects.

In Charlotte we have Carowinds, about 15 years ago they debuted "Days of Thunder" which was pretty big since we're in NASCAR country. I've never rode Star Tours but I guess it's the same thing. I thought this one was pretty cool when it came out. That was a long damn time ago, though.

I think I rode one at the beach once too, maybe at Ripley's Believe it or Not or something like that? Can't remember what the show was, though.
