Looks cool but it also looks like they have some dirty monitors/monitor glass (monitor side). That always seems to be the case in the wild.

I was there a few years ago. Pretty good selection. Is the SW cockpit still there?

That's epic! You really don't see games like Lunar Lander, DOT, and Elevator Action out in the wild all too often.

Where is/are these Disney Quests. I drive past Disneyland on the 91 freeway everyday to work. Is there one in Socal?

I was a Disney Quest in 2001 and I remember the thruster handle being reversed on the Lunar Lander... you had to pull back on the handle to increase thrust and move forward to decrease thrust. It should be the other way around.
Per the picture it looks like it may still be that way because the thrust handle in in the forward position.

Glad to see you had a good time and I'm glad they still have the classics.

I've been there a few times but the last 2 trips a few years back (January 2006 and Sept 2007) were very disappointing. It was as if no one was maintaining the games AT ALL. Half were dead and all of the "working" machines either had bad monitors or non-working controls.

I wrote them a long letter asking them to please fix the games seeing that they hadn't been maintained in close to a year and a half. I was pretty sure by the looks of things it was only a matter of time before they disappeared.

Apparently they only had one older guy who serviced all their machines "very" part-time. I was surprised to hear that. Disney usually overdoes everything to make sure things are top notch.

This is good news though. I wasn't even going to bother next time but it looks like I will be going there on my next trip thanks to your post!

I worked on the decorative lighting for that place, loooong ago. Here's the only pic I could find and it was taken before digital cameras were around. Interesting place to do an install, looks like a lot has changed since I was there.

FYI - there were other Disney Quest locations but they were too expensive and got quickly out done by D&B's and Gameworks. The one in Chicago barely made it a year.

DQ shut down due do D&B? That's sad considering D&B isn't cheap. Maybe it's because they serve booze. I went to DQ in Orlando back in 2000. I think this was somewhat near when they opened it, and it was really sweet back then. I can't say I remember much from 10 years ago, but I do recall it being a fun day. They also had a VR setup (somewhat cutting edge back then) but I was less than impressed with that. Do they still have that?

That place is pretty awesome. From what I remember when I was there, they had announced plans for Disney Quests in Disneyland and Chicago as well, but due to the failure of the one and only Orlando location, they were never built.

I've also heard this place was supposed to close as early as back in 2006. But it's still there.

The best part about the place is the fact that ALL games are free play, you only pay to get in.

Actually I would prefer the experience of attract modes and coining up. Especially with certain games. Like playing gauntlet without the expense of adding quarters limiting you. Not as fun honing game strategy to preserve life when there is no penalty for recklessness.

Some games had dip switch options for flight controls that reversed movements. Is it possible this game was one of them? Probabaly not, but just throwing it out there.

I don't know about this. Especially when story became more of an element, it's fun to see the end of certain games without having to blow $10+ in quarters. The Time Crisis series for example, or even Dragon's Lair.
