Hey guys,

I'm working out a deal with a guy that has a Discs of Tron stashed in his garage for the past 20 years. When he turns it on it doesnt have any sign of life...bad fuse? who knows. Got it 20 years from a house he was cleaning out and its been at his parents garage ever since. He also has a Pac man original cabinet..plugs is in and get a hmmmmmmm noise but nothing else. Anyways back to Tron...he's asking me what i think a fair price is for it...I have zero clue...please Arcade Gurus..chime in..I really want to make this deal work for both!

Yep. Monitor's are easy to fix and there are plenty of folks knowledgeable in MCR/ Midway board and power supply repairs. I'd offer $250-3 to start, but settle on $4 if he is much higher than that.

my heart is pounding...dont think that offer would scare him away?..i'm in the tri-state area here..take whatever reasonable fair price that any item goes for in the rest of the country and add the 40% i'm in NY tax to it.

he said he wants to list it on craiglist and see what fair market value is..great. Well if someone else snags it from me i'm hoping its a KLOVER

If you really want it, pay his asking price. Don't even talk price with him, just tell him you want to buy it. Do whatever it takes to get his address and get to his house tonight. Once you get there, THEN you can talk price if you think his price isn't fair.

Take your emotions out of it. He lists it on CL, HE WILL get lowballers, then your offer will look good. BUT, if someone is out there really looking for one (and there are several folks who are) this will be snapped up as soon as he lists it, provided his price is far less than a grand to start.

I say you are fucked if this happens but thats just me.

Also remind him, this is cash in hand, no waiting for people, communicating, negotiating *after* the fact issues. CL has a fantastic chance of be a hassel. I would personally take less money to not have to deal with numerous flakes on CL. That is a big selling point.

Funny, I just bought a DoT with the same story. In the garage for 20 years, didn't work when I bought it. Turned out to be the power supply. $400 or less would be aight.

hah was wondering what you paid for yours!..

Alright so the guy never had a price to begin with. He's as clueless as I am, its in his parents place gathering dust. So he asked me what price I would pay, or value these at..so I told him around 300 for the Tron, based on not knowing what the issues are and it not powering up. I told him I don't want to let this go so let me know what your price is to come get it today. Waiting for him to get back but I have a feeling he wants to put it out there and see what people offer.

Post a link to his ad, we can all gang up to flood him with lowball offers and high offers but flake so he gets frustrated! Gotta help a fellow member out when we can. :)

$400 or less would be a steal.

I would walk over with $600 and hope to walk home with some of my money but if not $600 is still a bargain.

cdjump can fix the boards (if necessary) for $100 or less.
power supply replace $45 or less (if necessary)
monitor chassis $95 or less (if necessary)

fuse $2

no brainer, quit dicking around or look forward to pay $1300 for one in worse shape but working if you ever get the chance again.

Exactly. That thing is nice. I was going to say about $600. Sure, maybe you pay an extra $100-200, but for a DOT in that condition, that's a steal. He's happy, and you get a fantastic game.

you guys are crazy...any number of people would pay $1500+ for a UDOT in good condition, working or not

What do you expect from a bunch of klover cheap asses (sayin' it in a most respectable way)? ;)

Its worth about $1500 working. Figure $100-$300 to get it working.

I would say $500 is fair. if he is a friend, I would make it up to $750 if its an easy fix. If you need board repair, then $500 is fair.

Whats his address again?

Seriously, DOT is one of my favorite games. I spare no expense on mine. Just ask Rich :) Pay what you can, it took me a few years to find mine.
