Hi folks, 1st thread here & a fairly new member to the world of arcade & pinball collecting. I was in Portland Oregon a few months ago & absolutely fell in love with an Original Dedicated Discs of Tron Upright Cabinet circa 1983. I did every thing in my power to try & find one, not realizing just how rare these baby's are. I got extremely lucky & managed to secure an EDOT which I ended up trading for an Upright. I just wanted to share the story & give a hundred shout outs to Anthony & the folks @ Ground Kontrol in Portland. If you've ever stepped foot in there then you know what I'm talking about, make sure to stop in whenever you find yourself in PDX. I still can't believe how fortunate I am & what great people came together to make this happen. Full post on my blog for anyone interested. www.bobberhelmet.blogspot.ca
Aside from intermittent audio it's working beautifully. I'm hoping to have a technician look @ it soon. Thanks to everyone that keeps this community alive, I'm sure to have questions in the near future. Cheers, Aram - Vancouver BC

I gotta ask why you traded an EDOT for a partially non-working DOT?? Just curious? I have an EDOT and there is no way I would trade it for an upright...

Welcome to the club buddy. I have to agree with Vader about trading away your EDOT, but to each their own. Good luck on the repair.

Well there's a lot more to the story - for one I just don't have the space for an EDOT & it's also gone to a really great home. It's going to get the attention it deserves @ Ground Kontrol. I couldn't be happier with the outcome to be honest. Good to hear from fellow DOT owners.

Yeah I hear that man, sorry to hear bout ur seller's remorse. I can't see myself ever selling it, I think I'm getting buried w/ mine. If anyone can recommend some basic intro reading material on 'pcb/sound board technical arcade know how for dummies' I'd appreciate it. I'm just getting into this hobby & I want to start learning as much as I can. I'm going to look into some night courses as well.

Will you be adding a Squawk & Talk pcb to your DOT eventually?

Thanks for the post LUCKYMAN, it actually came with all the original manuals + maintenance records.
YieArKade I would love to add the Squawk & Talk if I can get my hands on one. If you have a line please let me know. A friend of mine says his technician might be making some aftermarket Squawk boards from scratch which would be superb.

dot

congrats, dot is a great game i searched 2 years for mine. that is one heck of a pick up for a first game! i would love me and edot but no room-that thing is a bohemoth! welcome to the club.

Audio Solved

Good news fellow Tronsters, I sorted out the audio last night. It ended up being a loose nut on the power supply where several ground ribbon wires interconnect. Tightened her up & she's working better than ever. I also went through manual & discovered 'Self Test Mode' which takes you into the back end of the game. I'm sure this is old hat to most but I thought it was pretty cool. Cycled through all of the settings & haven't noticed any latency in the joystick buttons since. Also gave myself 9 lives per credit which got me into some high levels - this thing just keeps getting better & better. Can anyone explain to me what 'Rack Advance' means in the manual, is this a cheat to cycle thru levels? Thanks
