Standard Arcade Cab Discs Of TRON
Happens during play and even during the attraction screens the graphics shake left to right as if some one is shaking the monitor form inside the cab. Also some times the High Score and TRON name area graphics just vanish and don't return until the game is over.
What can be causing this? Loose chips? Power?

Any help would be great thanks
Curtis

is it the graphics that are missing or are colors disappearing. for the shaking and what not, i would lean toward a cap kit, and also making sure you hit the chassis for cold solder joints, assuming you have a k4900 in it. but if you can, post a video of it. it may make it easier to diagnose.

no color problems.. its the "playing field", the discs platforms and the players all as one shake like the thing is riding over a bumpy road-side to side, random. The aim area does not move (spinner controlled). Also only a few times the TRON (name) and score/deflector dots disappeared and did not come back until after I died.
The picture is clear just shakes left to right (if you look at any game and shake you head left to right that is what it looks like)

I used to have the same problem, it went away for a few months, and then came back again recently. I've also had my game freeze twice over the past few months. I'm betting it's just a cold solder joint somewhere, but I don't really feel like re-flowing solder on all of my PCBs. I don't think it's a monitor chassis though...although, what the heck do I know?

someone else may need to chime in, but sounds like possibly a board issue. have you done the general voltage check/reseat socketed chips/replace interconnect cables?

thats what am thinking..its not my machine so I cant do anything but try to get info to help fix it.
thanks

thank you guys I will pass along the info..the cab did get moved three times in a few months across bumpy sidewalks

not sure,
I know they rest all the chips and made sure connects where clean.
It seemed to fix the problem.

I have reseated all my chips and also found the 20 pin molex which carries the power to the board was burnt up. I pulled the pins on the molex and they all looked clean. So, not sure. I did sand the pins on the board and also cleaned the molex pins. I wonder if I should just replace the molex and all the pins to be safe. Does Bob sell the bent pins that are on the PCB? Anyone know? Or, does anyone have any other solutions for this issue. It seems like a common issue.
