Never put this on my want list because I never thought I'd get one - now it's sitting in my garage! KLOV member Fitpays took the 4 hr roundtrip roadtrip with me tonight and provided most of the muscle moving this beast around. And it is a BEAST! It must weight 400lbs. The game boards are mounted to what I thought was a piece of an environmental cab, but on closer inspection it's not. Does anyone know what game that might have been from (see second to last pic)

It needs some new side art, but the cabinet is SOLID. Monitor has very little burn, and the game looks beautiful in the dark. The game has a few issues though:

1) It only plays in two player mode. Insert one credit and neither button starts the game. Insert 2 credits and either button starts it in 2 player mode. Control Panel wiring does not look hacked.

2) The disc platforms in the game have some vertical lines in them. The lines don't show up until the discs appear, so I don't think it is a monitor issue. See the last picture for details.

3) Right sound channel is quieter than the left.

I'm going to post in the repair section with more detail, but if anyone has any ideas, drop me a line!

Welcome to the club! DOT is solid, lots of wood on that one.

Have you made sure the boards are getting correct voltages? Thats the first thing I check with glitchy behaviors.

Any ideas on what game that piece (where the game PCB is mounted) in the second to last picture came from? I looked through KLOV for Bally/Midway games made in that time period, but could not find anything that looked like it.

I think Churchhill was still making Midway's cabinets and sometimes they had scrap that was either missing a color or misregistered so it can be tricky to ID without all the art on it.

My first guess is a pinball lower cabinet though.

Space Paranoids? :D

Very nice!! Mine will be here via NAVL tomorrow, keep an eye out for pics! Congrats on your find, these are not easy to get...

If you don't mind my asking, how much did you pay for yours?

I couldn't really figure out a good price for it. Mine was listed on craigslist for $1300 by a non-collector. I agreed to $1100 over email and I showed up with only $800 in my pocket (Typical KLOV'er :)). I went over the issues with him and told him it was only worth $800 to me and he said, "sure, no problem". I felt like I left some money on the table, but I still feel like it's a good deal because it's a great game and it's hard to come by.

the side art is in good shape but could use a re-fresh, and the the deflect button doesn't work. Overall pretty good shape. You'll see some pics tomorrow.. :)

I know I've heard a lot of people say they wouldn't spend $1K on a DOT, but the reality is how many do you really see for sale? And with the movie coming out, it should help it's demand and collectibility..

Either way, I'm going to really enjoy playing mine and I don't see it going up for sale for a very long time..... and if it ever does, I don't anticipate losing money on it.... But then again, I wouldn't care if I did, I'm in this hobby for the fun!

Reseated all the chips / ribbon cables and the graphics are perfect now. I'm going to check the DIP switch settings to see if that's causing the "2 Player Only" issue.
