Cool game, I play it on the 412 in 1 and can just barely get the 3rd level also.

Bear, it's hard getting past level 1 on Bagman!!

Chuck, I've been meaning to get the 412/1 for Tutankham & Jack the Giantkiller.

Gleek, I haven't seen a anteater pcb for sale lately but I'm sure you're right.

Think I'll turn it back on!!

Anteater tip!!!!! I made to level 5!! 2 bugs on bottom are Smart Bombs! Kill everything. I do top then make a way to bottom set off a bomb then clear part of bottom then hit other bomb and try to clear the rest. U have to retract sometimes but now only middle to clear.

Sometimes it will throw out an ant and a worm at the top where you have no option but to die. If it wasn't for that lack of attention in programming it would be a must-have.

I love this game. A dedicated cabinet would be sweet, but PCB's are hard to find. Artwork is hard to find as well.

Anteater is in my top 10 for greatest games ever made. Yes, it's that good.

There are ways to avoid the worm and bug coming out at the same time though that happens very very rarely.

The difficulty level is what makes this such a great game. It's possible to get really good but virtually impossible to master.

It was never released as a dedicated game. It was kit only.

PCB goes for around $150-$250. When people catch on to how great it is, I wouldn't doubt it reaches $500.

Found Anteater on the Costco multi they sold a while back...awesome game and love it!

Suck at it....but love it!

I was able to find a working pcb in the last few months...don't recall what was paid, but, not an easy find!

We had one of these show up in the local pizza place as a kid. Hellaciously frustrating but it had that magic element that kept us feeding it quarters: fun gameplay! Wicked wicked fun game.

I agree with you and the others, Anteater is great.

Hey, you can't say that and not tell us what those "ways" are!

Not surprised you agree, Joe. You and I seem to have very similar taste in games.

The top tunnel is the only place where the worm and bug coming out at the same time is a problem. If this happens, attack them both head-on. If they are close enough together, the collision detection from the bug will also take out the worm. You have to be moving towards them though, you cannot wait for them to get to you.

Just referenced this game as a great but obscure one, in a recent post, so you know that I'm a fan... Never saw it in an arcade back in the day (though it's in a NY Barcade that I visited recently). Always hoped that this game and Circilus Charlie would end up on the ArcadeSD...

Pure ridiculousness, an original (nice, mind you) marquee being sold on eBay:

Starting bid: $85.00 (no buy-it-now), lol wtfbbq mate?!

After all the profits are said and done, why not charge the buyer for S&H too? +$10.95

LAME!

super great game and I've seen 2 in the wild recently. 1 at galloping ghost in Chicagoland, and the other at the Barcade in Manhattan. So go play the real game!

Also, It's different than other games, so there's a learning curve, but it's not nearly as hard as bagman. You just need to learn how far you can go before pushing the button to get you back fast. And use those 2 bottom worms wisely. Getting to level 4 or 5 regularly shouldn't be too tough. THEN it gets too hard to play :p

What did the ones in the wild look like? Were they dedicated or just stuck into a random cabinet?
