I've got to switch out my board in the coming week. I've watched few videos and consulted SupaDave bout discharging Monitors. Dave warned me about the C904 cap and not to touch the bottom of the board.

Does anybody know how to discharge it safely? I read the article but don't really understand in detail where I'm comfortable messing with it?

That's probably the right way to do it. I always just took a screwdriver and put it across the two posts, but man it makes one HELL of a zap. Worst I've ever seen.

i took a 2 watt resistor and placed it inside an automotive voltage tester where the little light bulb is. works great and even has a long ground wire with an alligator clip on the end.

For the record, you usually only have to do this if the small fuse is blown. If it is not, then you probably won't have anything there to discharge...
