Wondering if anyone else has had this problem? buying games from someone whos games are filthy, smelly and doesnt even bother to wipe down their games? Ive been buying some games from a local op who's games all smell like cat piss / shit and have fur all over them. And this is in their house :(
Today he asked me to come in his house, I wouldnt do it.. Smelled like shit from outside! I just waited for him to open the garage door, then after purchasing the game I wiped it down, took it home, cleaned it and shot fabrese inside.
I happen to be allergic to cats or any pets with long hair, so its especially vile for me.

**Edit**
Id like to add that before doing anything with a game I purchase, I clean it first (both inside and out).

My Centipede had a bit of a funk to it when I first got it, although there were no stains or nests of any sort inside. I sprayed different stuff into it for awhile, and now it seems to smell ok...lol

My satan's hollow was sitting in a some sort of wharehouse for like 10 years. It had a bit of stink. "Just a little bit..."

My buddy picked up a nice Qbert and it smelled to high heaven. but was really nice oddly enough. Smelled like MOLD badly when you opened it up. He took care of the mold and such. But it was bad!

Two years ago I bought a CHAMPION PUB pinball machine (which I really liked to keep). But it came from a Wings place, so it smelled like wings and grease. Stunk up my whole basement.
I ended up selling it because of that.

The PP I bought about a year ago had a weird "sweet" smell to it. At first it almost made me sick. After I gutted it and got all of the rat shit out, I hosed it down inside and out with simple green.

I bought a couple of nasty Ms Pacs not too long ago. They were in one of the dampest basements I can remember. I used some damp rid on them and it worked decent. I also picked up a Galaxian from what appeared to be a nice house from the outside. Inside there were a bunch of cats and the place stank of cat piss. I did not realize the cab smelled as bad as it did till I got it home- made my whole garage smell. I bought some stuff from Petco specifically for cat piss smell, I think it was called nature's miracle, after about 10 applications it was better, but not completely.

Not buying games like that again...........unless.....no.......not again....

Last time I purchased a game from this guy (NFL BLITZ) it smelled so bad that I was never able to get the smell off. I aired it out for 2 weeks, used everything I could think of and it didnt help.

yeah new games usually air out in my garage. THey dont come in the house untill they stop stinking.

THorogh cleaning and i also have an ion box simular to this that i saved from someones garbage 15 years ago. Damn thing works great, let that run in the smallest cab overnight and the next day it smells like a fresh breeze after a thunderstorm.

my q*bert smelled terribly of cigarette smoke - had been in a small arcade/pool hall for a long time back in the day when you could still smoke inside. took almost a month to get the smell out, and i still leave a box of baking soda in the bottom...

I read on some arcade site b4 that there was some stuff you poured on a rag and then just let the rag sit in the cab, anyone know what I'm talkin about? It was on a site that also sold Novus and stuff

Yup, I walked away from a game one time even it was a game that I was looking for at a great price. I was so torn but I just get pass the smell and I did not know how to tell the seller when I was in his gargage/ game room. Come to think of it, maybe that's the reason he is letting it go because he did not want to sell for a while.

The bad smell sometimes never goes away especially cat piss it seems like it soaks into
the cabs wood.I have always tried to purchase machines that don't stink and now i hear some guys on the forums talking about finding termites in some cabs. That's scary

Not only do you have to worry about termites what about bedbugs & cockroaches all my cabs get stripped down blown out with air, vacuumed, and sprayed down with simply green before heading to the basement.Depending on the condition or the house it came from i will spray the bottom of the cab with Ortho-Home Defense Max even go as far as spraying a perimeter on the floor around it.I hear the termites like to hide behind the t-molding.From what i have read from past posts people are using vinegar to remove the smell gonna have to give it a try sometime.

Here's my worst one ever, up to this point, with pics. This thing covered all of the bases, mold, mildew, wet, animal funk, you name it and it had it. But it did live to play another day.

Many scrubbings with bleach on the inside and then replaced the bottom since it was too far gone to salvage.

I kept a fresh box of baking soda in it for about a year, just for good measure.

It's been in the house for a couple of years now with no problems from smell or mold/mildew.

One time I moved a Mr. Do in a scramble cab to a guys gameroom location. We plugged it in & played it. About an hour later a nasty stench was coming out of the cabinet. So we unplugged it, opened up the backdoor & say kaos. A mouse moved into the cab,had babies & then were ate up by a snake that got fried on the tranformer. All that was left was skeletal remains. Straight up NASTY !!!

The worst game ive even owned was an Armor Attack. I stuck my head in the coin box (make sure it was complete) and noticed about 2 dozen huge roaches looking at me.
Anyway, I shrink wrapped it and put a roach bomb in it.
I killed over 120 roaches (yes I counted them) and about 2-3 that tried to run out. That shit was disgusting.

By the way, I wont buy any more games from this guy (its been 3 so far). But this was my last.
I avoid stuff like this.
