My DH gun shoots the perfectly some times, sometimes hesitates, and sometimes won't shoot the ball out at all. The motor works fine but the shooting coil doesn't engage part of the time. When I turn it on test mode it will sometimes fire a time or two repeatly, and other times, not at all. Any suggestions? I replaced the shooter switch and resoldered the coil wires. thanks for any help, Mark

Be sure new switch is good. Doesn't need adjusting.

And you have it wired right. Wires in right spots and diode facing the right direction.
Look at other switches in your game to help you if you don't know William's wiring layout for the switch matrix.

The micro switches have two lugs close together and one lug further away. The two together the outside one gets white wire and what ever color stripe and black end of diode, the middle lug gets green wire, far lug gets the silver banded end of diode.

And be sure wires or switch lugs aren't shorting to metal.

LTG :)

You could also have a broken wire between the gun assembly and the connector below the playfield. It could be making contact sometimes and sometimes not, those wires are pretty crammed in there around the gun.

Thanks for the advice. The coil actually doesn't have a diode on it, just the two prongs since it's not one that holds, just pushes the ball out. It's a smaller type just like a knocker. I'll look at the wires a little closer and also replace the coil and see what happens.

I wrote diode on switch problem, nothing about a diode on coil.

DH motorized gun problem

Hey thanks for answering my questions. So are you saying there should be a diode on the switch? There isn't one and it does look original as far as I can tell. Does the gun start "plunger" need one or are you talking about the motorized one?

thanks again!!

Check your manual. If the switch is on your switch matrix, it should have a diode.

If it's a dedicated switch like EOS points, etc., then no diode. LTG :)

dh intermittant guy problem

Was is the wires around the gun like where it goes down into the playfield? or something all the way back in the back box?

The wires from the playfield to the gun (opto's) Ohm them out wiggle the wires. I think there were 4. Check the optos to, use a digital camera to see if the sender is lit.

Looks like its fixed! I replaced the coil but when I put my meter on the wires from the plug under the playfield and to the gun there wasn't continuity on one of them. And the other one had been replaced before it looked like. Funny thing, there is no sign of the wired being broken or stripped anywhere just looking at it, must be internal. Thanks again guys for your help!!! Mark
