I bought one these these super cheap power supplies from ebay. I assumed it was a cheap copy of every other generic power supply out there. When I got it, it was actually about half the size of your typical power supply.
I wasn't expecting much for $12, but I did expect it to work. When I hooked it up, it didn't have any output at all on the -5V rail. I opened it up to try to figure out why, and discovered that the -5V terminal isn't even connected to anything on the circuit board. It's just floating. Apparently it was performing exactly as designed.
I think you can put this in your "do-not-buy" list.
