do black light bulbs become less effective over time? my gun game has two, and the black light effect isnt as strong as it seems it should be. the bulbs and scenery are clean.

you gotta remember man, blacklight= uv. uv kills art man..

you could get some suber basass blacklght art, put a uv protective coating on it but then it aint gonna react to uv lol..

look at all of the tron fellas out there, nobody has original art that still reacts like it did new... sucks but it happens man

replacing the blacklight bulbs made a huge difference. the one in the game, when off, were very pale, the new one a deep , dark blue black. they are phillips bulbs.

i tried a few things to clean the scenery, the best by far was Q tips and novus one. other stuff just spread the drip around, or ground it into the scenery. the q tip seems to pick it up off . maybe for large areas a cotton ball ? i didnt try that, just though of it now.

I had a similar problem with a Space Invaders upright. The backround looked washed out..even after cleaning the mirror and the artwork. I solved it by getting a 'white' blacklight from topbulb.com . Once installed it looked great. I don't know what bulb you are using..though so YMMV.

i guess the ones in there were white, or white-ish. they looked pretty shot, and had that nasty orange glow at the ends. the new bulbs are very dark, but work well, i got them at home depot for 10 bucks each.

You probably bought a "blue" black light......you need a "white" black light.
Blue black lights.....F15T8BLB
White black lights...F15T8BL

It does make a big difference. What's your bulb number?

Yup, there is a HUGE difference in brightness between the two. Especially depending on the artwork itself.
Sometimes you can find the "white" blacklights in places that carry bulbs for like Terrariums and Aquariums.

i should have the white ones very soon, they were shipped from topbulb. i will return the black ones to home depot. one of them was defective anyway, i have one new black bulb installed, along with a semi spent white one. i'll post when i put in the new , see if there is an difference.
