My k4600 monitor was just BARELY showing through, with the screen pot turned up all the way, and it had some vertical lines in it.

So I capped it with a kit from Bob Robert, and the problem persists... anybody have a clue? Could my screen pot be screwed? or something else?

Which "screen control" are you using - the one on the left daughtercard, or the one on the neckboard?

And did you replace the one on the daughtercard during the rebuild?

I adjusted the screen pot on the neck board. I thought the one on the back of the color daughter board was something with sync? I skipped it during the cap kit. Is this normally a problem indicitive with this problem?

Replaced that pot real quick... you were exactly right. that did the trick and now i've got a BEAUTIFUL picture outta that 4600. My first ever success story!

thats a lesson learned for ya.. dont skip the caps that are in the kit. They are the commonly recommended caps to replace

Actually, this was a pot that's usually in the kit, but if he made his own kit, then he might not have had the pot.

Still, I don't know if he actually tried the pot before replacing it, because it might have been okay....

I tried the pot before I replaced it because I'm lazy and didn't wanna replace it.

With the slightest movement of the pot, the screen would toggle from completely black, to too bright to see anything. So it seemed toasted...

After replacement, a few re-adjustments of the screen pot and that blackness level pot made that 4600 look really, really good! I almost don't wanna sell it now...
