I have a Renegade PCB that I have been building a cabinet for. Now that it's playable, I've noticed that the digitized sounds are not playing. The game has several sayings and some other (motorcycle) sounds. On occasion I have heard a few of the sounds, but this is only after the game is first powered up, during the first game. When this happens, the first few sounds are clear then the last one will sound muffled, or scrambled and only about half as loud.

Any help or ideas would be great.

Just a bump here and some additional information. Last night when I got home from work, I powered up the game and began playing right away. During the first 5 minutes, or so, it played perfectly with all the sounds. Moments later the "additional" digitized sounds were gone again for the remainder of the night.

So, unless someone can give a recommendation, I plan on just picking up a can of Cold Spray and trying to locate the problem.

Check your voltages going to the board. Then check it when it glitches.
It's not unheard of to have a game start up and act normal when the +5 is too high then shortly after it warms up it glitches out.
Some boards are very tempermental - I have one any lower than 5.1 it'll glitch -any higher than 5.4 it'll glitch.
If the voltages are fine then clean the edge connector - reseat any ribbon connectors, pull chips and clean legs.

The digitized sounds are coming from a different chip than the music. The sounds have to be mixed in somewhere before the audio amp chip. Find the location for the mixing - usually an op-amp chip with a few resistors and caps.

Replace the caps and check the resistors. If that's not it then replace the op amp.

Thanks channelmanic. I replaced the caps, and all is good.
