recently picked up a dig dug. according to the previous owner, it worked fine for several years, then stopped coming on. I plugged it in and turned it on, had the coin slot light, but no marque light and no screen/sound. he suggested it may be the power supply, but he didnt know any more about machines than i do (which is next to nothing). when i turned it off and unplugged it i noticed a faint pink/blueish starbust in the middle of the screen. this is all i know and all i can say. any suggestions? thoughts?

Hi and welcome. Rule number 1: check all of the fuses in the power supply with a meter to make sure they are all good.

If all your fuses check out, try checking all your connectors to make sure their fitting tight. Sometimes you get lucky. You should also check to see if your getting 5 volts out of the power supply.

thanks. there only seems to be one fuse, ill just put a new one in and see what happens, after checking connections. its incedibly dirty inside, as was the commando i picked up with it, yet the commando works fine. youde never think it looking inside. other than the monitor, should i be concerned with disconnecting things and what-not, as long as its unplugged?

try turning up the brightness on the monitor.

If you got the little color thing upon powering down, it appears that the monitor is getting juice.

alright - i tried turning up the monitor brightness and that worked, its getting juice. just a white screen with vertical lines running slowly back and forth. I tried the self tests and got nothing. Should I assume the board isnt getting to the monitor? theres a little led on the board that is not lit up... maybe no power to the board?
