It seems as if dipswitch 8 is non functional. When in self test I can switch 7 back and forth and go from one man to two men. I have opened and closed the circuit on 8 and it has no affect so its not the switch. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Todd

Check the 1k pull-up resistor associated with that switch. It's either R167 or R160 on a Type 'A' PCB, and either R172 or R165 on a Type 'B' PCB.

The resistor is good. You think I could have a bad chip at 10p? If so is there a source for those?

Thanks

I would use a logic probe or DMM on the actual leg of that IC at 10P to see if the pin gets pulled high and low when you toggle the switch. If it doesn't, it could just be a bad socket, rotten IC leg, or a broken connection somewhere on the PCB. If it is going high and low, the IC is probably bad. Unfortunately I haven't seen any CPLD replacements for that 53xx custom. I think your only source would be other Dig Dug or Pole Position boards.

I have continuity from the switch to the top of the legs on the chip. I am leaning towards the chip at this point but I don't have a logic probe handy. I will see if someone has a chip to send and give that a shot.

Thanks for the help.
