When I power this board on there is a constant hum coming from the speaker, the screen does the initial garbage startup then says "RAM OK" but then resets. Also the coin counter keeps clicking....anybody see these symptoms before? The board looks complete and clean with no work done to it.

Edit: The Dig Dug cab is fully working with a different board, just thought I'd clarify this to eliminate any other factors.

Check voltages at the board, make sure you've got a good solid 5v.

If it's getting to that point re-seat the three 28 pin custom IC's on the board marked 08xx, where XX is another number. Also re-seat the z80's, that never hurts with those boards. Also re-seat the EPROMs too. That's mostly the simple stuff to start with.

agreed - clean, reseat and make sure board connector is making good contact.

Does the hum occur with the other board? or only the one?

You always have the good board to cross check your chips. Thats how I fixed mine. Video was garbled because of a TI107.

I just fought a board problem only to find the pins in the connector had been pushed deeper into the connector by an op using wire to rebuild a finger trace. I pulled them back to center with a dental pick.

Good luck :)

Thanks guys, I will try reseatting the chips. The board in the cab presently works perfect with no hum. The garbled screen is at the beginning of the boot process which I believe is normal.
