I have a working Dig Dug that will not save Hi-Scores. I checked for -29v at the TP on the PCB (and pin 14 on the EAROM) and only get 2.4v.

Also, I noticed that the Sense mod was done to the AR/II and R29 and R30 tested bad with my DMM. Do these components still need to be good if the Sense mod was done?

The sense mod wouldn't effect the -29v supply to the EAROM. Check the 36VAC at the edge connector pin 3. Depending on the revision of the board Page 4A or 3A on the schematics shows how the -29v supply is generated from the 36VAC supply.

Sometimes it is the easiest things...

Since you mentioned that the -29V is supplied by the 36VAC (thanks JROK, you got me looking in the right place to troubleshoot) I took a look at the schematics again and saw that the 36VAC doesn't even go thru the AR/II. So I checked for 36VAC at the edge connector... nothing. Then checked the fuse... blown! Replaced and powered the game on w/o anything connected. Fuse OK. Powered down, connected AR/II, powered back up... fuse OK. Powered down, connected edge connector, powered back up... fuse OK and I now have -30V at the TP.

The Hi-Score is still flaky. One thru four on the Hi-Score table have scores of 10k while the number five spot had 1A0000. I played a game, received 67k and it never asked for my initials. What gives? Bad EAROM?

I'm not sure if the self tests even check it...

If it is a bad one, I have 2 tubes of them that I picked up on my last trip to the bay area.

Well I played a game today and got 126k. Turned the game off, came back a little while later and the score was still there. Not sure why it didn't take the first time around (maybe it just needed a little kick in the pants) but it is working now.
