yesterday I started working on my first game from the KY open house. I was able to pull all the wood grain siding off. The sides are in pretty good shape. if you look close in photo number 3 you can see the front corner broke off but the good news is there is no art in that corner so i should be able to fix that and blend the paint to match. The front of the cab which is not shown in these photos has a few cracks front the top of the coin door to where to cp bolts on. Im thinking of just cutting that whole front out and replacing it. I could screw a support board behind it and patch it but I want to do this right and not halfass it. so with all that said as you can see from the photos can I save the side art? what can i use to remove the glue but make sure not to remove the side art? i have read a few of the posts and there are a number of paint strippers but what can i use just for glue? someone said something about a 3m product I want to know whats the best and safest. my plan was when i bought this as a tri sport to strip the sides, paint it black and make it a 60-1 but dig dug has such cool side art I really want to save this cab. Thanks for any and all help on this.

I added the 4th photo you cant really see the cracks on the front of the game but you can see thanks to Brent I was able to score a sweet dig dug bezel for it.

For the adhesive I would lay the cab on it's side and thoroughly saturate with Goo gone citrus (not gel). Let that sit for about 30 minutes re-wetting it as you wait. Then use a plastic scraper to take it off. You shouldn't need much pressure at all to get it all off but I'm sure you'll need to go over it a second time. I would think that more than likely any other chemical will eat the art ink and leave you with white sides.

I have a cab out of the warehouse I was thinking of attempting the same thing with. Strip the glue. I want to say a KLOVer from Indy learned a few things from stripping one he bought during the first sale. I believe it was Vongoosewink. Drop him a PM. If I am recalling it correctly as him I am sure he will be happy to update the post.

shouldn't need much pressure he says. you son of a bitch why did i let you talk me into this lol( i hope you know im joking with you ) holy shit this is a lot harder then i thought it would be. i let it sit for over an hour rewetting it this is how far i got after one bottle of goo gone citrus not the gel.
here are two photos of before one bottle of goo gone and after 2 hours total. is there anything else i can try that wont hurt the side art? no wonder people paint these things black lol this is my first restore from the ground up i want to do this right. i loved dig dug as a kid the art on this game is so cool and now my kids love playing it on my 48-1 so i hope i can save this one.

as you can see other then the glue on the sides the art is in really good shape but i have to fix the front and three of the bottom corners. im hoping because there is no art i can get away with fixing the bad wood and painting the bottom/corners white i just hope i can match it. im very slow i will update as i go. if anyone know how to remove this glue any other way thats safe please let me know.

Aww man. Sorry it's fighting you. Whoever made the vinyl that was on there used some weird adhesive. I recommended this method to you because it worked for me on two cabinets. Are you using a stiff plastic scraper?

i was just messing with you who knew this stuff would not let go. plus i would rather fight with it than have it remove the side art. better to be safe than sorry
