Well here it is! My very first restoration. And I have the honor of asking this community to help me along my journey. Very excited.

So this unit has a number of issues.

*T-molding is in dire need of replacing.

*All of the controls on both sides are pretty squishy.

*Underlay has been all cut up and is mostly missing.

*Original glass is missing.

*Pretty significant monitor burn in and discoloration in the corners.

*Player 1 CPO has been painted over

*After being on for about 5 minutes, the game starts reseting itself every few seconds.

Obviously I have my hands full, but I am confident that with the help of this community, I can do this :) <3

So I've decided that before I tackle anything cosmetic on this machine, I want to get it 100% functional. That means fixing the resetting first. However, as I said, this is my first restore, so troubleshooting eletronic issues are not yet my forte.

So does anyone know what could be causing the machine to reset? I took a video. The rumble you hear is actually feedback coming through the speaker that seems to be related to the issue because it doesnt start till the machine begins to reset, and the screen begins to flicker when it happens. (click the picture below to play the video)

Any help is much appreciated :)

So on a lark, I decided to mess around with the sound pot, since there was significant audible feedback when the machine was resetting. To my suprise, that seemed to fix it :)
There was just certain volume levels that were not agreeing with the game. Weird!

From here on out it's all cosmetics for this little guy.

I would check all of your grounding and power supply, connections, etc. I would also be tempted to replace that POT. Grounding first.

I've got a Dig Dug cocktail in similar condition in storage right now. This one was low on my list of to-dos mainly because of its condition, but there were like 1200 of these made so what are the odds?

My cpos are worse (gone) and my underlay is better, although not salvageable. Have you had any luck sourcing reproductions for either?

Also, you might check the other threads. I've seen some on ways to remove paint and leave side art, cpos's undamaged. Might be able to save your P1 cpo.

Mame Marquees had the underlay but I don't see it on the Game on Grafix site. Maybe you could contact them to see if they can still print it, I am happy with the one I have.

Great, thanks for the art-underlay sources. If joymonkey has the art already I won't bother vectoring it myself. And if Game on Grafix will print it up for me that's even better. I'll post back whichever route I go, ArchonTurtle.
